Customer Reviews of Amco Silicone Tongs , Red
Customer Rating: Summary: Tongs Comment: They don't scratch, grip well and are reasonably priced. If they were a little more forgiving on delicate items (chicken nuggets, fish fillets, etc.), I would give them five stars, otherwise they are a good value. Customer Rating: Summary: Silicone Tongs , Red Comment: High quality silicone coated tongs. Springs open, locks closed. Does NOT scratch my non-stick skillets. Customer Rating: Summary: OK but not what I wanted Comment: These would be ok but I didn't realize just how big they are. I wanted something I could actually cook with. They are a full 12" long. The handles didn't fit comfortably in my hand and the silicon tips are hard, not rubbery texture like I'd imagined. The tips open to about 6" between them. Hope this helps someone else know better if it's what they want. Customer Rating: Summary: Silicone Makes The Difference Comment: I needed a good set of tongs to use in non-stick pans. Not having to worry about melting the tips is what really makes these great. I'll confess that it did take me a minute to figure out how to lock them. Locking is simply push/pull the spring with the hanging ring. I think you'll like these. Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic tongs. Comment: I use my other Amco set (metal tips) all the time. These don't get as much use but working with non-stick surfaces will get these out of the cabinet every time. More Reviews These tongs can be used to flip a chicken breast in the saute pan, to rotate a red pepper under the broiler, or to retrieve a lobster from the pot. Safe for non-stick cookware, the silicone tips take really high temperatures in stride. Choosing Appliance -> Dishwashers Look for models with adjustable baskets and flexible internal layouts for varying load requirements. For example, a tilting upper basket allows large 30cm diameter plates in the lower basket and extra flaps can be raised or lowered to cater for small items or large pans. Choosing Appliance -> Whip / Whisk Many still consider a whip as a "gourmet" piece of kitchen equipment. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is as essential as a kitchen stove and should be in everyone's kitchen. Nothing works better for mixing a multitude of different preparations or for making sauces or gravy. Buy a solid stainless steel whip with moderately stiff wires. Very thin wires are for mixing delicate things like egg whites or whipped cream. Very thick, solid wires are for mixing stiff dough. Amco Silicone Tongs , Red Kitchen tips -> Sharpening Knife A dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one, because you apply to it more pressure and force to cut through foods. It can easily slip out of place as you use it and you can harm yourself. Keep your knives in good working condition by sharpening according to their use and time. There's no specified amount of time, because knives vary as much as their use; although, you can easily determine if they need sharpening by the way they cut/slice foods. If a knife can slice through a tomato and tear the skin, then it needs sharpening. If, on the other hand, the cut is clean and quick without any tears, then it needs not be sharpened. |
