Customer Reviews of Back To Basics 4 Piece Water Bath Home Canning Kit
Customer Rating: Summary: Product is okay Comment: After ordering this product, I started canning with it and where the handles were attached to the canner, it started to leak water down the side and onto my stove. I sent it back to amazon and got a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement did the same thing. I then called Back to Basics directly, and they sent me a new one. They said that they had problems with handles leaking a year or so ago. Therefore, Amazon's product is an old product. Since I received the new one, directly from the Company, I have not had any problems with it! The canner fits 7 jars perfectly. Customer Rating: Summary: Should be rated as "0" stars Comment: Unless they have redesigned this canner since I originally purchased it, I would not purchase this product again. I can so many quarts and pints of fruit during the summer, that I have two canners. Even though I am very careful with all of my canning equipment, this one is rusting on the lid where the handle is connected by a screw, it leaks water out of the handles on the pot and it rusted on the bottom (inside) when I left the water in it for a couple of hours (while it cooled down). It is easily chipped on the exterior and the specialized lining on the interior is not worth the "hype" since the metal underneath is already exposed and rusting. I found the wire basket--which is included with it--unable to hold wide mouth quarts. There are two positives: 1): the handle on the lid stays cool; 2): the vents on the lid do what they are supposed to do--provided the heat is not turned too high. Customer Rating: Summary: Ridged bottom Comment: This canner has a ridged bottom, not a flat bottom, and cannot be used with ceramic (glass) stove tops. Otherwise, it appears to be a well-made product for those with gas or standard electric stove tops. More Reviews Back to Basics went back to the drawing board and designed a superior water bath canner. Improvements include a deeper pot allowing over an inch of water to cover the jars, a non-stick surface for easy cleaning, and a canning rack that keeps jars separat Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Ease of cleaning is well worth considering at the outset. Stay clean liners resist dirt build-up but pyrolitic cleaning is the ultimate. It burns off all baked-on debris at 500°C so that all you have to do is sweep out the resulting ash. Look out for ovens with a steam cleaning facility, too, and remember that some ovens have removable inner doors that are easy to clean. Choosing Appliance -> Non-stick Pans We recommend having at least 1 high quality non-stick saute pan. It makes cooking eggs and delicate items like fish a breeze. It also cuts down on the amount of fat necessary to effectively saute. The best place to buy such pans is from a restaurant supplier. Back To Basics 4 Piece Water Bath Home Canning Kit Useful info -> What is a Springform Pan Traditionally, a springform pan has been defined as a round pan, that with the aid of a clamp, has removable sides and bottom. Generally used for cheesecakes, these pans allow cakes or tortes to be easily extricated from the pan. |
