Customer Reviews of Lello 2720 Pastamaster 2200
Customer Rating: Summary: Very difficult Comment: I purchased the Lello 2720 Pastamaster 2200 for my mother. We have used other similar items in the past and are very familiar with following instructions and identifying the readiness of the dough consistency. This machine was very difficult to gage. We spent nearly 10 pounds of flour and one dozen of eggs attempting in several tries to have the machine extrude the dough through the disk with no success. Needless to say, we are very disappointed and resorted to the good old fashion hand- crank dough machine. Customer Rating: Summary: Solid Construction Comment: I have had the Ron Popiel pasta maker in the past. This is a replacement for that maker which finaly failed after ten years. This pasta maker is much beter constructed. It feels hardy and sits with a comfortable weight on the counter top. Made pasta in the same manner. It took a little practice to get the consistancy right, so a little patience is needed. Customer Rating: Summary: Does not make usable pasta Comment: While it is sturdily constructed, this machine just woul dnot make any usable pasta. No matter what I did pasta always came out with jagged edges.. more flour, less flour, more liquid, less liquid, etc.. When boiled the pasta would become an unusable lump of dough. Not recommended. Customer Rating: Summary: So easy and so good - if you follow the directions Comment: I was a skeptic. I had wanted to make fresh pasta for years, but I've never had much luck with anything involving making dough. However, at 62 and with a vacant spot on one of my gadget shelves in the basement I decided it was now or never, and took the plunge with the Lello pasta maker. So far I've made spaghetti twice and fettuccini three times. Four successes out of the first five tries leaves me satisfied and well fed. Two cautionary notes from experience: use a kitchen scale for weighing flour; and, when in doubt, start with less liquid. It is much easier to add liquid than flour to get a good result. Overall, this is a gadget that will remain on my upstairs pantry gadget shelf. Customer Rating: Summary: unhappy pasta maker Comment: My Simco pasta machine broke a few years ago after giving me many years of great pasta. I tried to order another and found out Lello bought out Simco....so I spent $150 bucks on what looked like a comparable machine. It seems the same but the pasta is so hard and dry it will not go thru the extruder....I threw my old recipe away so I can only guess that the recipe included in the Lello machine is wrong......I am in the process of experimenting but so far have been very disappointed. More Reviews Choosing Appliance -> Spoons Buy stainless spoons (both slotted and non-slotted) which are solid and won't bend no matter how tough the job. Also, buy several high quality wooden spoons for stirring delicate dishes like risotto (the sharp edge of a metal spoon would cut or bruise the rice). Choosing Appliance -> Energy-Efficient Refrigerators The EnergyGuide label on new refrigerators will tell you how much electricity in kilowatt-hours (kWh) a particular model uses in one year. The smaller the number, the less energy the refrigerator uses and the less it will cost you to operate. In addition to the EnergyGuide label, don't forget to look for the Energy Star label. A new refrigerator with an Energy Star label will save you between $35 and $70 a year compared to the models designed 15 years ago. This adds up to between $525 and $1,050 during the average 15-year life of the unit.
