Customer Rating:  Summary: A Kitchen Necessity Comment: These tongs are great for tossing salad (and allow you to use LESS dressing), for flipping foods while cooking (to avoid fork-piercing and loss of natural juices), for getting hot pasta out of the pot, etc. They lock and unlock easily for storage and use (I sometimes use my hands-free hip method to unlock them). They are sturdy and dependable. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Tongs Comment: ***** These tongs are sturdy, and great for all tong tasks. I use mine for picking up bacon and turning it over, and because the edges are nylon, it won't scratch the pan. They are a great alternative to the cheap aluminum tongs that feel flimsy and break easily. OXO products, including this one, are always easier to use and of high quality. As others have mentioned, they store easily in a smaller space because of the locking mechanism at the top and they have a loop if you want to hang them. They clean easily, too. I haven't had any problems with hot temperatures on the tips, but I wouldn't use them for barbequeing either for fear of the nylon + flames = no more tongs. They should be good to go for any indoor kitchen task not involving an open flame. Note that OXO makes these particular tongs in the 9 inch and the 12 inch size. Both are great! ***** Customer Rating: Summary: There is a difference Comment: Before these, I only had cheapy tongs that came with various sets. They would easily bend, were awkward to use and had metal tips, so couldn't be used on nonstick pans. I finally broke down and bought these Oxo tongs and Wow, what a difference! They are much weightier and sturdier than my previous tongs. There is no worry that they will bend, nor do they get stuck in any position. The button at the end allows for one-handed opening. They clean up perfectly in the dishwasher and they can be used safely with my nonstick pans. Definitely worth a few extra bucks! Finally, I have well-made tongs that have nylon tips that won't scratch my non-stick cookware. They grip well and they can be put in the dishwasher. If you have non-stick cookware, you shouldn't be without these. More Reviews These brushed stainless steel tongs have soft, non-slip handles and comfortable thumb rests. The nylon head is heat resistant to 400°F and is safe for non-stick cookware. Easily lock these tongs in the closed position for convenient storage. The lock consists of a large pull-tab that doubles as a hole for hanging. Dishwasher safe.

With a stove on an outside wall, it's easy to install an effective hood and ventilation system, essential to expel grease, smoke and combustion gases. The stove or cook top needs a 21- to 30-inch overhead clearance so cooks can readily see and access rear burners and the ventilation system can do its work efficiently. |
