Customer Reviews of Taylor High-Temperature Instant-Read Pocket Thermometer
Customer Rating: Summary: Instant read thermometer Comment: Great price and fast service, I bought two, gave one to my daughter and got free shipping. I use it all the time. It works just as well as the $98.00 one recommended by the Test Kitchen. Great product, would recommend to anyone. I love shopping at Amazon.com. Customer Rating: Summary: Arrived Broken, Never Worked Comment: I wouldn't even give it one star if I could submit a review with zero. I'm extremely disappointed with this item. It never even turned on. Booooo. Total waste of money. Customer Rating: Summary: Fast Comment: Fast and easy to read. I'm a little worried about liquid or food eventually getting in around the openings for the slide switches. It would be 5 stars if it were sealed. Customer Rating: Summary: Works well, but don't forget to turn it off Comment: This thermometer works well, it reads fairly quickly, and it has given me no reason to question it's accuracy. But for whatever reason, in a world of electronic devices with momentary on switches and time-out features, this one has a single-throw lever switch. On is on, and off is off, with no embedded idle-detect program in between. To compound this it's fairly easy to turn it on accidentally, however, in its defense, the first battery is still going strong, despite my having inadvertently left it powered-on in a drawer for days on end. I should also note that it came with an extra battery, so at this time the power arrangement is a non-issue for me... it's just a little different than many things of this nature. Customer Rating: Summary: fast thermometer Comment: When my husband ordered this meat thermometer I thought that you could use it to check steaks on the grill. Unfortunately, it is like most thermometers of that kind where it must be inserted at least an inch into the meat for an accurate temperature. It is quick but don't forget to turn it off as it is battery operated! More Reviews This is the thermometer to have when you need a quick temperature capable of reaching 500° F. The display is protected by rugged polycarbonate crystal. Included is a replaceable 1.5 volt lithium watch battery which is installed already. Taylor also included another battery for a spare. The display reading will update every second. The stem of this needs to be immersed at least 1 inch for accurate readings. Not for use inside the oven. Taylor makes superior quality products. This item has a limited one year warranty. Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Ease of cleaning is well worth considering at the outset. Stay clean liners resist dirt build-up but pyrolitic cleaning is the ultimate. It burns off all baked-on debris at 500°C so that all you have to do is sweep out the resulting ash. Look out for ovens with a steam cleaning facility, too, and remember that some ovens have removable inner doors that are easy to clean. Choosing Appliance -> Sinks Consider which accessories might be beneficial. Many models can be supplied with a draining basket, chopping board and strainer bowls. A drainer extension can be useful for sinks without a drainer where worktop space is limited in a small kitchen.
