Customer Reviews of Zyliss Easy Spin Salad Spinner 4-6 Servings, White
Customer Rating: Summary: better than most Comment: Pros--plastic is hard and so lid tends to stay on; no ridiculous spout-and-drain system for "washing it as you dry it;" gets to reasonable speed. Cons--cord will eventually break and then it's junk. Inner plastic cage may lose its shape and begin to rub against the outside. One of the better ones but clearly not perfect. The funniest thing, however, is that Amazon's algorithm has decided to advise us to save by buying both this one AND the identical green model. Presumably there's a mom-and-pop retailer out there who got 20 of each and that was enough to make it the most common salad spinner combo out there. Because, funnily enough, it turns out that 'people' who buy the Zyliss Easy Spin Salad Spinner (Transparent) 'also buy' the Zyliss Easy Spin Salad Spinner (Green). But come on, Amazon, you can do better than that! We're putting our trust in your recommendations! [49] Customer Rating: Summary: Preferred the earlier Zyliss model Comment: I purchased this salad spinner because I had used a Zyliss at a friend's house, and was really impressed with how well it worked: it spun super-fast, and got the lettuce really dry. I was very disappointed, however, to find that this newer model--which features some nice improvements, like a non-skid base and a nearly flat top for stacking--doesn't seem to perform as well as the older ones do. Like other reviewers, I felt it didn't dry the lettuce as thoroughly, and doesn't seem to spin as fast as my friend's model. The worst aspect of the new design, however, is that the lid tends to fly off when you pull on the cord! The lip doesn't seem deep enough to hold it in place. The design of the earlier models encouraged you to pull out, not up, but even doing so, the lid on the newer example is prone to coming off. These problems were vexing enough that I traded mine in for a older model Zyliss that I found on eBay. I am much happier with that, although I find it is awfully large to store. The perfect salad spinner for me doesn't seem to be out there yet! Customer Rating: Summary: Lousy product Comment: This spinner worked well for a couple of months and then stopped working altogether. A waste of a lot of money. Customer Rating: Summary: A Loser Comment: This is truly the very worst salad spinner I've ever used. I bought it because I'd had a Zyliss that worked beautifully for more than 15 years. True, it wasn't transparent and didn't have the sleek, modern look of this one, but it got the greens dry. This one is easy enough to use -- just pull the string for an appropriate amount of time -- not exactly rocket science. Result: alas, wet, wet, wet. The only way to use the greens is to hand dry them. Moreover, said greens would rot if I tried to store them in the refrigerator overnight. The Amazon rating system seems to require a minimum of one star; left to my own devices, I'd give the Zyliss Salad Spinner none! Customer Rating: Summary: Love It Comment: This spinner gets out more water than the previous Zyliss one I had. The lettuce also lasts much longer before getting brown. I only use Romaine heads, I don't buy precut bags, and in the previous spinner the lettuce would brown in two-three days. The best lettuce is when you chop it and spin it and put in the fridge for an hour or more before using. If you eat it right away it seems soft and soggy, just like the other spinner. And the lettuce knife is worthless, smashes the leafs. More Reviews Serve cleaner, healthier lettuce and baby spinach with help from the Zyliss Easy Spin Salad Spinner. First, rinse your salad greens in the colander basket, then put on the lid and pull the retractable cord. With just a tug, the unit spins swiftly to both clean and dry the leaves and unlike other salad spinners, there's no need to pump or crank. Press the stop button, and the basket comes to a sudden halt that fluffs the contents. This indispensable kitchen helper is also great for washing and drying herbs and for crisping bagged salads. Holds 16 cups, or 4-6 servings. Dishwasher safe. Imported. 6Hx10Wx11L". Choosing Appliance -> Do I need a dishwasher? If you enjoy washing by hand, no! However modern machines use less water, detergent and power than ever before and wash hotter using really powerful cleaners giving a hygienic wash result. You can save around 500 hours a year so it is worth thinking about. If you have a small kitchen or live alone, choose a slimline model. Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Zyliss Easy Spin Salad Spinner 4-6 Servings, White Useful info -> How should I decorate my kitchen? Make sure that all wood mouldings such as doors, architraves and skirting boards are adequately painted before decorating. Ceilings too should be completed. Protect cabinets, appliances and floor coverings from paint or paste drips. You may want to unscrew wall cupboard mounted cornice to facilitate decoration. Don't put too much paste on your paper as it can become very soggy and tear rather than cut. Let the paste soak in for the recommended time and use top quality scissors and a craft knife with a ready supply of new blades for a sharp cut. Borders hide ragged edges at the ceiling. You will be so proud of your work when you have finished. |
