Customer Rating:   Summary: Jumps around counter Comment: I like the size, but if the top isn't seated properly and you're not holding the unit to the counter with a lot of force, it can fly off the counter. Twice I've had lettuce on the floor. Customer Rating: Summary: Quick, simple, effective Comment: The Zyliss small spinner works well and effectively dries salad greens with a few quick tugs of the cord. Keep in mind this is the small model, which is ideal for 2 or 3 handfuls of greens--servings perhaps three people--so opt for the bigger model if you need more capacity. Does work with plenty of room for ample lettuce for two large salads. Really nothing to write home about, but it's just a plain old salad spinner. It was gently used, and was used at most about twice a week. What a waste of money. I'll have to see if Zyliss will send me a replacement. Regardless, I'm never buying another Zyliss product again. The cord stays moist and the top never seems clean or dry, and is impossible to get water spots off. Maybe I'm just picky, but I'm going to try another type of spinner. Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Kitchen tips -> Chicken pieces When cooking chicken pieces, start with the dark pieces and then add the white chicken. The dark takes longer to cook than the white, so starting the dark first will assist in the white and dark getting done close to the same time |
