Customer Rating:   Summary: Works great for a couple of months Comment: Got this to replace a cheaper egg slicer that I had broken handily (slicing mushrooms mostly) in under a month. This one felt a lot sturdier and did the job great... for a little over 2 months. Unfortunately the wires break in a way I can't really fix, so I'm trying something even more heavy duty next time. I thought about requesting a replacement from KitchenAid but have decided instead to ask for a refund. This item is a total waste of time and money. Got a replacement from kitchenaid (very good service) used it once for eggs, went to wipe with a damp cloth and the wire broke again. would not recommend purchasing this item. Choosing Appliance -> Strainers We recommend 2 strainers for every kitchen. The first is a solid stainless steel colander (one big enough to wash a lot of lettuce at once). The second strainer is a fine mesh conical strainer (called a chinois) which is a must for any serious sauce or stock making. A chinois is an expensive purchase, but with care it will last many years. Choosing Appliance -> Food Processor This is a big ticket item, but worth its weight in gold. It will save so much time when it comes to simple chopping or more advanced preparations like mayonnaise. As with most things, buy quality-- it will last longer, be capable of tougher jobs, and give you less problems. Useful info -> Kitchen tips Shelves or cabinets above the cook top can hold foods that aren't affected by warmth, such as pasta, rice, and cereal. A shelf just below these cabinets but above the cook top can transform the space into a cooking workshop, providing a handy resting place for timers, spices, cooking supplies and implements. |
