Customer Reviews of KitchenAid Professional Egg Slicer, White
Customer Rating: Summary: broke the first time I used it Comment: This seemed like a sturdy little egg slicer when I bought it but two wires snapped and broke the very first time I tried to use this. The wires don't actually line up well with the grooves on the lower half. Don't waste your money. Customer Rating: Summary: What a rip-off! Comment: This was a horrible egg slicer. I thought something from KitchenAid that was advertised to slice strawberries or mushrooms would be worthwhile, but was I wrong. Worked fine for eggs, but broke on the first strawberry. My previous one broke on the first mushroom! Don't bother. Use a knife. Save the slicer for the eggs. Customer Rating: Summary: Kitchen Aid Egg Slicer Fails Comment: The first time using the product, two of the stainless steel wires broke! I am still able to use part of the slicer, but it is not effective. Customer Rating: Summary: Broke on first use Comment: I wish I had read the customer reviews before purchasing this. My wife just tried to use our Kitchenaide egg slicer for the first time and two of the wires snapped as she tried to slice up some strawberries. Do not purchase this egg slicer! It is a waste of $10. Customer Rating: Summary: wonderful Comment: the product does what it is suppose to do. you can not go wrong with Kitchen Aide products. More Reviews Even cholesterol watchers who avoid eggs can put this handy kitchen gadget to good use. An updated version of the egg slicer of yore, this sleek KitchenAid model with chrome-finish lifter and hinge case not only beautifully slices hardboiled eggs but mushrooms, soft cheeses, and fruits such as kiwi and banana. The bowl-shaped holder keeps food from slipping around, and the stainless-steel cutting wires stay taut and sharp. To use, simply lift the top, place food in the holder, and lower the top. The wires slice as they push through the food. Ease of use means slices can be churned out fairly quickly and uniformly, great for creating just the right size slices for hors d-oeuvres and sandwiches, and for adding embellishments to salads or cakes (Aussies who decorate their traditional meringue dessert, the pavlova, with kiwi, banana, and strawberry slices will love this device). Made of durable plastic that wipes clean and stays stable thanks to rubber feet, the egg slicer measures 6-1/2 by 4 by 1-1/2 inches and is conveniently dishwasher-safe. KitchenAid covers the slicer with a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Washer When shopping for a new washer, look for a front loading (horizontal-axis) machine. This machine may cost more to buy but uses about a third of the energy and less water than a top-loading machine. With a front loader, you'll also save more on clothes drying, because they remove more water from your clothes during the spin cycle. Look for the Energy Star label. Choosing Appliance -> Plastic wrap An absolute must with a million and a half uses. But do not buy just any plastic wrap. Go to a restaurant supply store and buy a large roll of restaurant plastic wrap. It sticks much better than the common grocery store plastic wrap and is much cheaper per foot.
