Comment: After buying a similar binder for myself, I decided to purchase one for my daughter's upcoming wedding. We are spending the next six months collecting family recipes from grandparents, aunts, etc to put into the binder. This binder is a great style -- sleek and kind of modern looking. What surprised me, once I received it, is that the insert in the front of the binder is not just a picture -- it is actually a three-dimensional object (the tiny fork is adorable). It is recessed into the binder, so I don't think it will snag up on other cookbooks. The 4x6 cards are a nice size and the heavy plastic pages are clear, allowing you to print on both the front and back of your recipe card (and to be able to see both sides without removing the card from the binder). I'm not a huge fan of the pre-printed categories on the dividers, as some are not those that I would use. However, overall this is a great product. Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome!!! There is an Equivalent Measures chart inside the front cover, 12 tabbed dividers, and 40 recipe cards arranged in 20 protector sheets. My one disappointment was with the tabbed dividers. I wish they would have been blank (or that they at least included a few blank ones) because I wouldn't have organized my recipes in the same way they do. Tabs include: Appetizers, Soups-Salads, Sauces-Dressings, Breads-Grains, Dairy-Eggs, Fruits-Vegetables, Pasta, Poultry, Seafood, Meats, Desserts, and Beverages. All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase and will be ordering another. More Reviews For those who prefer a book to a recipe box, this recipe card organizer is the perfect solution. The refillable three-ring binder has pocket pages which each hold two 4"×6" recipe cards. Intersperse photographs with your recipe cards to create a unique keepsake. The red stitched vinyl cover has a die-cut window with a raised metal plate/fork/knife/spoon. Includes 20 PVC-free transparent pocket pages, 40 4"×6" design-coordinating recipe cards, and 12 tabbed recipe dividers. The organizer is capable of holding approximately 60 pocket pages. Refill packs of 20 pocket pages and 40 recipe cards are sold separately. 
Choosing Appliance -> Knives The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. You will also want to buy a sharpening steel. Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. Kitchen tips -> Chicken pieces When cooking chicken pieces, start with the dark pieces and then add the white chicken. The dark takes longer to cook than the white, so starting the dark first will assist in the white and dark getting done close to the same time |
