Customer Reviews of Magnum Salt Mill- 6-Inch
Customer Rating: Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5
Summary: Not Too Impressed!
Comment: I have to turn the top until my arm gets tired to get the desired amount of salt out of it! I'm going to try the Peugeot salt grinder; their pepper grinder is excellent!

Summary: Great peppermill
Comment: I've been through a lot of peppermills...I honestly can't remember how many have ended up in the trash. Before I purchased another one, I did an Internet search for "the best peppermill". This one came up several times. (Try it yourself. "Magnum" comes up a lot.)

It's easy to load with peppercorns (thank you!)and has a simple & quick adjustment for variations of coarseness. Plus looks good on the table. I also feel like this one will last....I've had it for 2 years now, we use it everyday, and it's still perfect in performance. It's totally worth the extra few $$....definitely a keeper!

Summary: Great grinder to go with the Magnum pepper mill
Comment: This is a great salt grinder, and it looks good next to the matching (and wonderful) Magnum pepper grinder. It also comes with a little matching tray that it sits on to catch any stray salt that might come out after using it.

Good salt grinders, like this one, use nylon grinding mechanisms because the salt quickly corrodes metal. Don't try to use peppercorns in a salt grinder as the rock hard corns will quickly destroy it. Salt is considerably softer, and will be fine.

I highly recommend both the smaller Magnum peppermill and the larger Magnum Plus. They are the best peppermills on the planet, by far.

Customer Rating: Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5
Summary: As close to perfect as you can find
Comment: Clearly, the first reviewer of this item has...shall we say...limited experience. Nylon grinding parts are essential for a salt mill that doesn't rust, corrode, or add bits of grunge to the output. Like the Magnum pepper mill, this product is THE BEST.

Customer Rating: Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5
Summary: Great Mill! - beware of the other review
Comment: The reviewer does not understand that this is a salt mill. Steel grinders on cheaper salt mills will corrode eventually thus rendering the grinder useless. High end salt grinders use a NYLON grinder (not plastic as indicated again by the reviewer). This is one great mill that matches the pepper mill in highest quality.

Choosing Appliance -> Knives
The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. You will also want to buy a sharpening steel.
Choosing Appliance -> Ovens
Most avid bakers prefer separate, even-heat double electric ovens. If that describes you - and you have the space - be sure one of the ovens is equipped with a broiler that provides at least 3,000 watts of cooking power. Also look for racks that pull all the way out and lock in place for safe, easy access to the oven. On the inside, a dark interior shows less baked-on grime, while a porcelain interior is easier to clean

Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Maintain Electrical Safely
The insulation on electrical cords can become damaged by wear, flexing, or age. Do not use any cord that is stiff or cracked. Some clues that you may have an electrical problem are:
  • Flickering lights. If the lights dim every time you turn on an appliance that circuit is overloaded or has a loose connection.
  • Sparks. If sparks appear when you insert or remove a plug, they could be a sign of loose connections.
  • Warm electrical cord. If an electrical cord is warm to the touch, the cord is underrated or defective.
  • Frequent blown fuses or broken circuits. A fuse or circuit breaker that keeps tripping is an important warning sign of problems.
  • Frequent bulb burnout. A light bulb that burns out frequently is a sign that the bulb is too high a wattage for the fixture.
