Customer Rating:   Summary: Complete Ripoff Comment: This product is a complete ripoff. Its a flimsy piece of plastic which can't crack nuts at all. Amazon should be ashamed for letting this outright piece of garbage onto its web site. Avoid at all costs. Customer Rating: Summary: Promising product, but dismal in the long run Comment: This product doesn't look like much, but it does successfully crack all kinds of nuts, even the tough brazil nuts. Unfortunately, the shell shards can get stuck in the handle. If you don't carefully clean them out before releasing the handle, the handle can break off. Wish the manufacture had warned me! Customer Rating: Summary: great idea but needs improvement Comment: For hazal nuts, pecans,and brazil nuts it's great the shells really don't fly all over the place like with other nut crackers.. but forget almonds , their shape and size make it impossible to open. Most walnuts are also too large to fit into the small opening on top.. Another possible problem is that It's made of some plastic type material which may not hold up under pressure after much use.. a better one would have been made of metal and have a larger opening on top.. perhaps and even larger opening would make it so you can open several nuts at one time and just dump them all into a plate and pick away the shells.. Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic Comment: Works great. Just hold your hand over the top as you squeeze so nothing comes flying out. Takes hardly any pressure to crack walnuts. When you're done simply shake it over the pail to dump any small pieces of shell. Or, pop it in the dishwasher. We'll probably be buying a few of these next Christmas as gifts. A must have if you eat a lot of shelled nuts of any type. I had no problem at all with small nuts as the first reviewer said. You still will need a nut-pick (which doesn't come with this nutcracker). This costs more than the standard pliers-type nutcracker, but is worth it. More Reviews The Chefs Planet Nutcracker cleverly traps nuts where they cant escape. It is physics at its finest. Design at its most functional. Part vice and part art piece. Just drop a nut in and squeeze the ergonomic handle. Nuts wont pop out. Shells wont fly everywhere. And fingers wont be pinched. Dishwasher safe.

Choosing Appliance -> Servicing Your Appliance Buying this "service deal" can be expensive but if you feel happier knowing that you are protected from breakdown for a few years, shop around insurance brokers to see how prices compare. Kitchen tips -> Sharpening Knife A dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one, because you apply to it more pressure and force to cut through foods. It can easily slip out of place as you use it and you can harm yourself. Keep your knives in good working condition by sharpening according to their use and time. There's no specified amount of time, because knives vary as much as their use; although, you can easily determine if they need sharpening by the way they cut/slice foods. If a knife can slice through a tomato and tear the skin, then it needs sharpening. If, on the other hand, the cut is clean and quick without any tears, then it needs not be sharpened. |
