Customer Rating:  Summary: Great product!!! Comment: I bought this product over a year ago and still use it almost everyday. It takes a little muscle but not like some reviewers are saying. It's a great product and allows me to cut prep time sometimes to seconds. I have an electic chopper also but tend to use this as there is no setting up to do,and it's very easy to clean. It's a great little kitchen helper for the price! Customer Rating:  Summary: Handy when you get it too work Comment: I got it as a wedding shower gift and I do love having it because it cuts prep time, but the problem is that my husband is the one who has to use it because as other reviewers note, it takes a lot of pressure. I'm 5'2" and we have normal height counters, and I rarely can get it to work on even small pieces of veggies -- even when I put my full weight on it. However, when it does work, I love that we can wipe off the big stuff and then throw it in the dishwasher. So I guess you take your chances depending how strong you think you are! Customer Rating: Summary: I love the chop wizard! Comment: It's almost perfect. I got it so my children could be more "helpful" in the kitchen. They can safely chop apples and potatoes for me. (Ages 3 & 5). They love to eat fruits and veggies they helped to prepare. The really cool thing though is that *I* use it all the time. I can quickly chop lots o' veggies in a uniform size so that everything cooks evenly and looks nice. I use the small grate for matchstick/ julienne type applications and the larger one for more bite size pieces. The only improvement I would make is to make the chopping surface larger- then add more of an assisted lever for the chopping. The chop wizard can handle 1/4 apple or 1/8 large onion easily. It's difficult to chop larger pieces and the container that catches the pieces is a bit small for large volume applications. As a whole, however, if you prepare a lot of produce, it's worth the space in a small kitchen even if you don't like a lot of clutter from too many gadgets. Customer Rating: Summary: GREAT ITEM BUT DELICATE Comment: This is the 5th Vidalia Chop Wizard I have purchased. I use it in my small resturant. Nothing is better to make Pico de Gallo. I use it for everything from dicing onions and tomatoes to ham for omlettes and salads. The only problem I have had is the clear plastic base cracks if top is not fitted on just right. After breaking 3, I am very careful. I also broke one when it was dropped. But I will always replace because it is such a great kitchen tool. I actually bought 2 this time, just in case! Choosing Appliance -> Non-stick Pans We recommend having at least 1 high quality non-stick saute pan. It makes cooking eggs and delicate items like fish a breeze. It also cuts down on the amount of fat necessary to effectively saute. The best place to buy such pans is from a restaurant supplier. Choosing Appliance -> Mixer Pretty much the same thoughts as the food processor. High quality mixers are great for making bread or other tough jobs. Every kitchen should have one. Be sure that any mixer has all three attachments: paddle, dough hook, and whip. Also, find a spot on the counter where it can be easily accessed at a moment's notice. Vidalia Chop Wizard

Look for brands with low energy consumption (energy efficiency ratings will be displayed in the showroom). Levels are now as low as 1.3kW/hr on some slimline models largely because of reduced water consumption. A delay timer can help take advantage of cheap overnight electricity. |
