Customer Reviews of RSVP International Endurance Salt Server With Spoon 8-oz.
Customer Rating: Summary: Many Thanks, Alton! Comment: I not only think Alton Brown's "Good Eats" is the best cooking show on T.V., but I'm also a total sucker for cute gadgets and this one fit the bill! After seeing Alton use one many times, I had to have one. I purchased mine at Linens 'n Things and absolutely love it. It's not only adorable, but indespensibly functional. We use unprocessed salt called "Real Salt" and it keeps the salt clean and prevents it from forming lumps. I also use Kosher salt for tasks such as boiling pasta. I'm so enthused about this wonderful salt server that all of my family and my husband's sister are getting one for Christmas. Since Linens 'n Things is going out of business, I was delighted to find them on Amazon. Customer Rating: Summary: Thanks Alton! Comment: I started finding it a pain to pull the box of kosher salt out of the cupboard, so I decided to buy this, thanks to seeing Alton Brown use it on "Good Eats". The look of this item works with our kitchen, as we have granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The lid has a gasket which keeps moisture out of the vessel itself. The glass bowl sits perfectly in the metal holder, and can be removed for washing. And excellent buy, for me! Customer Rating: Summary: Alton Brown has one Comment: My husband has wanted one of these ever since he saw Alton Brown with one. I finally broke down and bought it for him. I have to admit, I love it. We use sea salt and kosher salt, and the containers they come in make it very hard to get a "pinch" of salt. This server makes getting a pinch or a teaspoon so easy! Plus it looks nice on the table. My only wish is that it was easier to keep the stainless steel lid clean and free of fingerprints. Customer Rating: Summary: Finally found this! (after months of looking) Comment: Many thanks to Amazon for FINALLY letting me find this salt thingy after many months of looking. Alton Brown uses this on his cooking show (Good Eats) and besides looking online, I also went to several high-end cooking supply stores (like Sur La Table) but with no luck. Then I happen to find it on Amazon of all places; go figure! Customer Rating: Summary: Nice gift for cookers Comment: I got this from a friend for my b'day. PROS: I wish the stainless steel was brushed as it gets all the regular kitchen stuff on it. It comes with a spoon but I use my fingers as I was getting way too much salt for what I needed. It is super convenient to have this right next to the stove instead of grabbing the salt from the pantry several times a meal. CONS: I wish there was two spaces so I could have pepper there too. I would recommend this product. More Reviews Your favorite gourmet salt will be easily accessible at the table or in the kitchen with our salt server. Durable stainless steel frame holds an 8 oz. glass bowl and features a unique flip-top lid with silicone gasket to keep your salt fresh and dry. Dishwasher safe but we recommend hand washing. Choosing Appliance -> Ovens Most avid bakers prefer separate, even-heat double electric ovens. If that describes you - and you have the space - be sure one of the ovens is equipped with a broiler that provides at least 3,000 watts of cooking power. Also look for racks that pull all the way out and lock in place for safe, easy access to the oven. On the inside, a dark interior shows less baked-on grime, while a porcelain interior is easier to clean Choosing Appliance -> Sinks Consider which accessories might be beneficial. Many models can be supplied with a draining basket, chopping board and strainer bowls. A drainer extension can be useful for sinks without a drainer where worktop space is limited in a small kitchen. Kitchen tips -> Sharpening Knife A dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one, because you apply to it more pressure and force to cut through foods. It can easily slip out of place as you use it and you can harm yourself. Keep your knives in good working condition by sharpening according to their use and time. There's no specified amount of time, because knives vary as much as their use; although, you can easily determine if they need sharpening by the way they cut/slice foods. If a knife can slice through a tomato and tear the skin, then it needs sharpening. If, on the other hand, the cut is clean and quick without any tears, then it needs not be sharpened. |
