Customer Reviews of Foil Cookery (Cooking without Pots and Pans)
Customer Rating: Summary: Not the type of foil cooking I was expecting Comment: While the recipes in this book look like they'd taste great and would be easy to cook....it wasn't what I was looking for in a foil cooking book. I expected a book full of foil pouch recipes that could be simply cooked on the coals by scouts. Instead, this book is full of standard camp skillet and pot recipes. The author simply puts the word "foil" in front of the words skillet and pot. This would be a much more useful book if it were divided by (or at least indexed by) cooking style...such as foil pouch, foil skillet, foil pot, or foil reflector oven. Customer Rating: Summary: Campfire cooking easy with Foil Cookery Comment: Going on a camping excursion this summer? Lighten the load and leave the pots and pans at home. To create fabulous meals in the great outdoors all campers need is a roll of aluminum foil and the cookbook "Foil Cookery." Chicken cordon bleu, salmon steak with cilantro and Cajun pork are a few of the more exotic dishes. But you can find revolutionary ways to cook breakfast staples such as biscuits and gravy, pancakes, omelets and potatoes, as well as dozens of lunch and dinner entrees featuring beef, chicken, pork and seafood. Foil Cookery also offers advice on how to mold pots, pans and pockets with foil, even an original foil invention, the Drip-O-Lator Coffee Pot. More Reviews A box of foil and this book and you're off on a new way of cooking perfect for camping, hunting, fishing trips, Scout troop outings, backyard barbecues, or just a hassle-free evening at home. Lori Herod shows you how to make foil pots, skillets, a reflector oven, and even a drip coffee pot to produce fool-proof meals hot off the grill or campfire. Here are 184 camp-tested recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all points in between, many of them new with this edition. Whether you're an experienced camper or a novice, Lori guides you toward a fun way of cooking without heavy pots and pans-and with no more dirty dishes! Take this book straight on the trail or practice at home in your conventional oven, but don't be without Foil Cookery (and a roll of foil). Recipes Include Choosing Appliance -> Taps If you want a sink with large bowl dimensions to cope with big-pan washing-up, it is worth considering a tap with a pull-out or pull-down spray rinse. This gives you water anywhere you need it around the bowl area. Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Keen cooks may want to take advantage of multi-function ovens - usually aimed at the top end of the market. As well as traditional cooking, fan or fan-assisted cooking and grilling, these ovens offer up to nine further functions. These include: Top element only (browning), bottom element (final cooking of pastry dishes or pizzas), fan and bottom element (delicate cooking), fan only (thawing). Foil Cookery (Cooking without Pots and Pans) Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Maximize the efficiency of appliances You can also maximize the efficiency of appliances you already own through regular maintenance and tune-ups and system upgrades.
