Summary: Luscious Recipes is correct!
Comment: I've had this cookbook for several weeks and so far every recipe has been a winner. The mixture of flavors is amazing. I wish all the recipes had pictures, but that's a minor issue. This is a well written, enjoyable cookbook that should be on every cookbook lovers shelf.

Summary: Great pics, easy-to-follow and hands-down delicious
Comment: I had never heard of Ellie when I stumbled across her book looking for a low-fat spicy salad dressing recipe. After looking into her a bit more, I thought her philosophy sounded like mine - eat real food, prepare it with flair, and all things are ok in balance and moderation. No recipe calls for stuff like "acceptable fat" or "sugar substitute" or any of the things you so often see. She uses real foods, and uses them really well.
I have made several recipes out of here already: chicken pot pie, sloppy joes, garlic fries, and apple turnovers. Every recipe has been amazingly delicious! I mean like put-your-fork-down-in-amazment good.
I will tell you, this is not for the novice cook. The recipes are not hard, but they are also not "open a can of this, mix in water, and voila!" type of recipes. They require a lot of cutting, mixing, and bits of this and that.
But if you like to cook, and you like to eat healthy but aren't willing to sacrifice flavor (and like me, you want to avoid putting substitute food in for real food) this book is IT. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Summary: Very Tasty and Healthier!
Comment: I have really enjoyed this cookbook! I have made 6 recipes - The Thai/coconut chicken, Asian greens, turkey meatloaf, French fries, steak tacos and carrot cupcakes. All were very good and especially loved the turkey meatloaf, fries, coconut chicken and carrot cupcakes(for my son's 2nd birthday)! I got into a recipe rut and this has helped out tremendously. Healthier can be easy and tasty. I am an RD and love to cook - her book is fun, informative and full of good recipes. Highly recommended!

Summary: For the Person who loves food!
Comment: What an awesome cookbook and guide to better eating. I wish she would do a children's cookbook to teach adults what to do. If we help our kids we will not have the obesity problems we do now.

Summary: Luscious and simple
Comment: I tested some of the recipes in this cookbook and was quite happy with them. There are ways to trim calories even further (I am a big fan of egg substitute and Splenda), but today the trend is to offer recipes that are both healthy and 'crave-worthy', and this one is right on the mark. If you buy this cookbook, you can make the recipe 'as is' or find the way to cut calories that is acceptable to you. Some people can live with near-zero fat desserts, other cannot. Some people worship Splenda, others loathe it. The great advantage of this cookbook is that recipes are crave-worthy for anyone, including people who do not need to restrict their calories.

More Reviews Do you think that healthy food couldn't possibly taste good? Does the idea of "eating healthy" conjure up images of roughage and steamed vegetables? Author Ellie Krieger, host of Food Network's Healthy Appetite, will change all that. A registered dietitian, Ellie is also a lover and proponent of good, fresh food, simply but deliciously prepared. And she's not about denial--no nonfat foods here, because when you take the fat out of natural foods, in go the chemicals. Don't deny yourself butter--use a pat of it, but put it front and center on those mashed potatoes, so you can revel in it with all your senses. The Food You Crave is all you'll need to change the way you eat and change the way you feel. It contains 200 recipes that cover every meal of the day and every craving you might have. Every recipe contains a complete nutritional breakdown, as well as tips on ingredients and techniques that will keep you eating smart and eating well.

Choosing Appliance -> Non-stick Pans
We recommend having at least 1 high quality non-stick saute pan. It makes cooking eggs and delicate items like fish a breeze. It also cuts down on the amount of fat necessary to effectively saute. The best place to buy such pans is from a restaurant supplier.
Choosing Appliance -> Fridge / Freezers
A large number of freezers have eliminated defrosting by continually circulating the air inside the freezer compartment, thus avoiding frost build-up -- a feature well worth paying a little extra for.

Kitchen tips -> Parsley
To obtain more flavor from parsley, remove the stems and only use the leaves. Use a scissors to cut the leaves into pieces instead of chopping with a knife. Chopping generally causes the leaves to become mushy
