Customer Rating:   Summary: Farberware Fry Pan Comment: It is wonderful to have tracked down this "old style" Farberware. I bought this as a gift for someone who needed to replace hers from the 70's. Seems that they hold up pretty well. Nothing fancy, just a basic, sturdy and favorite line of cookware. Customer Rating: Summary: Stainless Steel, heavy bottom, perfect fitting lid Comment: I'm very happy with this frying pan. It has a heavy sturdy bottom so it sits well on your stovetop and allows for even heat distribution. It is also stainless steel inside, not non-stick. The reason I wanted a stainless steel pan is to avoid the aluminum in non-stick finishes. I use this pan mostly for quickly sauteing and steaming vegetables. The perfect fitting lid means that I can just add a little water, put on the lid, and the vegetables come out crisp yet evenly cooked. I would recommend this as the first pot to buy for a housewarming present. It is a versatile size, and has many uses. Customer Rating: Summary: Just what I have been looking for! Comment: I have two Classic Farberware sauce pans that are several years old and I love them. I prefer not to buy a whole set of cookware because I don't use some of the pieces that come with sets. I've tried other brands of cookware but they don't hold up like Farberware does. I searched everywhere for a 10" Farberware covered skillet and couldn't find a better bargain than what I found thru Amazon. It's just what I wanted and very good quality. I am very happy. And the price is very fair. The only down-side is that I have been unable to find and purchase a similar Farberware 8-inch fry pan w/ lid. As I edit this, my review, after using this 10-inch fry pan w/ lid for several months, I find that the handle comes loose all too often. Even after repeated tightening the screw to the handle over and over, and, yet, over again, it comes loose while cooking. Due to this (and despite how I love Farberware), I am downgrading the initial 5-star to a mid-range 3-star grade. I hope that Farberware re-designs this pan so that handles no longer come repeatedly (and dangerously) loose. Customer Rating: Summary: Cooking snobs, maybe Comment: My husband only wants Faberware - and I don't blame him! So for every occasion, I add to his collection. They are, I think, the best in the world! More Reviews Functional as well as beautiful, this 10-inch frying pan is made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. The pan has an aluminum core in its base to spread heat quickly and evenly. The core is completely clad in stainless steel so, like the rest of the pan, the bottom resists corrosion and discoloring and cleans up easily. Thick rolled rims add durability and make it possible to pour from the pan without dripping. Because the pan is 2-1/2 inches deep and comes with a tight-fitting, domed lid, it is roomy enough to fry chicken and sauté vegetables but can also be used for braising red cabbage and pork chops or for cooking chili on the stovetop or in the oven. The handles are oven safe to 350 degrees F and stay cool on the stovetop. The pan is dishwasher-safe and comes with a lifetime warranty against defects. All the utility of a fry pan plus the added advantage of a lid, for when something needs to simmer. Stainless steel with an aluminum disc, this classic cookware will provide a lifetime of fine performance. 
Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes. Choosing Appliance -> Mixer Pretty much the same thoughts as the food processor. High quality mixers are great for making bread or other tough jobs. Every kitchen should have one. Be sure that any mixer has all three attachments: paddle, dough hook, and whip.
