Customer Rating:   Summary: SCORCHES ANYTHING THICKER THAN WATER Comment: I bought this pot early this year when money was tight and my kids and I were forging out into a new life on our own. It is awful. It scorches EVERYTHING thicker than water. Cream of potato soup? Scorched. Mac and Cheese? Scorched. Chicken and Dumplings? Scorched. Soup Beans? Scorched. It's fine for crab legs or veggies with LOTS of water, but I work from home and my time is too valuable for me to have to spend it constantly monitoring the pot, so I am springing for a better one and will turn this one into a flower pot. Customer Rating: Summary: Stainless Steel Pot Comment: This is a good pot for the money. Not too heavy but big enough for many purposes and the price is right. Choosing Appliance -> Whip / Whisk Many still consider a whip as a "gourmet" piece of kitchen equipment. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is as essential as a kitchen stove and should be in everyone's kitchen. Nothing works better for mixing a multitude of different preparations or for making sauces or gravy. Buy a solid stainless steel whip with moderately stiff wires. Very thin wires are for mixing delicate things like egg whites or whipped cream. Very thick, solid wires are for mixing stiff dough. Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Metro 16 Quart Covered Stock Pot
Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Stainless Steel Maintenance Wipe away any acid spills such as from vinegar or grapefruit straight away. Never clean the bowl or draining board with an abrasive cleaner. Instead use liquid detergent in warm water and wipe with a soft cloth to remove water drop marks. Care for stainless steel appliance fascias and cabinet fronts in the same way. If choosing stainless steel cabinets, a 'brushed' surface is less likely to show grease from finger marks. |
