Customer Reviews of Waring Pro MG-800 Professional Meat Grinder, Brushed Stainless Steel
Customer Rating: Summary: work horse Comment: We are avid hunters in Montana and have in the past always hired a butcher to cut up our elk and deer, but decide to save money this year and do it ourselves. We ended up cutting up 4 deer and 2 elk and made a lot of burger! This grinder kept right up. we are very impressed and would recommend it to anyone.I think we ended up with over 200 lbs of burger. Easy clean up too. Customer Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Comment: I love this machine!! Keep in mind that I was processing game with a cup size food processor prior to making this purchase. :) We lost our deer processor last year, so this year decided do do the processing ourselves and after using the personal sized food processor to grind little bits last year, I decided that if we were going to do this ourselves we definitely needed a meat grinder. While researching meat grinders, there was one review that kept popping out at me and that was from a guy who said he processed his wild game with this machine. That was what originally sold me on this model....well, that and those who ground up meat and bones for thier pets on the BARF diet. I figured if this could grind up bones it should be pretty hardy. So far we've run 2 wild pigs and 3 deer through it and it has performed flawlessly! The hardest part about the whole processing thing is trimming the meat to go into the machine as sometimes the game meat gets a bit slimey with membranes. Once the yucky meat has been trimmed off the good stuff, this grinder goes through it like butter. We also ground up the trimmings, gristle, and membraney stuff for the dogs and it went through that like it was nothing as well. Truly, I LOVE this thing! I find cleanup to be a breeze too, and we don't have a dishwasher so everything is washed by hand in this house. No problem with this machine or any of its parts. Hot, soapy water and a brush, and its good to go. The grinding plates do need to be rubbed in cooking oil and stored in wax paper once they've been washed, but as one other reviewer said, if you're used to working with cast iron cookware, you'll have no problem with this. Its seriously worth every penny we paid for it!! Honestly, I think its already paid for itself in what we would have spent at the deer processor's this year alone! Customer Rating: Summary: Works great Comment: We just bought the warring pro 800 this year. We have previously ground all our burger with a hand grinder and my arms would be wore out. Last year we processed 1 antelope 4 deer and 2 elk. This year we processed 2 antelope 4 deer and 1 elk and what a difference. At first I didn't tighte up the front nut that holds the cutting plate in place and it didn't grind good but once I cranked down that nut it ground great. Customer Rating: Summary: Waring Pro MG-800 Grinder Comment: This grinder makes short work of deer meat. A Minimum pushing of the meat is required, while processing the meat. Once the blades grab the meat, your work is done. The unit also cleans up easily. This is the best best grinder my hunting mates and I have ever used. The motor doesn't seem to work hard at all. I purchased this unit because of reviews like the one I'm writing which praised this unit. If this grinder is in your price range, buy it! You will be satisfied with its build and performance. Customer Rating: Summary: good grind BAD cleanup Comment: Yes, this product worked very well for me. I ground 12lbs of pork shoulder and made sausage from it using this machine. Sausage would be much easier to make with 2 people, but that's probably true of most sausage stuffers. I never had to switch to reverse or feed bread/crackers through to prevent jams as the directions said I might. However, no part of this product is dishwasher safe. It's used to grind raw meat, but you can't put any part of it in the dishwasher. I am confused by the reviews that say clean up was easy for them. There are a bunch of little parts with gobs or slimed up raw meat stuck to all of them; then you have to scrape off what you can and wash it in your sink. It was gross. But the sausage was good. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Dryer When shopping for a new clothes dryer, look for one with a moisture sensor that automatically shuts off the machine when your clothes are dry. Not only will this save energy, it will save wear and tear on your clothes caused by over-drying. Keep in mind that gas dryers are less expensive to operate than electric dryers. The cost of drying a typical load of laundry in an electric dryer is 30 to 40 cents compared to 15 to 25 cents in a gas dryer. Choosing Appliance -> Stainless steel bowls These are the best all purpose bowls for a multitude of applications. Choose a wide range of sizes (be sure to get a large bowl for whipping egg whites and whipped cream). In general, the heavier the bowl, the higher quality.
