Customer Rating:  Summary: Very useful lid for a superior pan system Comment: This lid works great: heavy, heat tolerant and easy to clean. It fits both the dutch oven and also the 9 1/4" fry pan, a real convenience and energy saver. The extra lid is terrific if I am using both pans at once or if I should break one: glass shatters on a tile floor! I enthusiastically recommend Scanpans and their lids. Choosing Appliance -> Strainers We recommend 2 strainers for every kitchen. The first is a solid stainless steel colander (one big enough to wash a lot of lettuce at once). The second strainer is a fine mesh conical strainer (called a chinois) which is a must for any serious sauce or stock making. A chinois is an expensive purchase, but with care it will last many years. Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Ease of cleaning is well worth considering at the outset. Stay clean liners resist dirt build-up but pyrolitic cleaning is the ultimate. It burns off all baked-on debris at 500°C so that all you have to do is sweep out the resulting ash. The EnergyGuide label estimates how much power is needed per year to run the appliance and to heat the water based on the yearly cost of gas and electric water heating. When it is time to buy a new unit, look for the Energy Star label. |
