Customer Reviews of Staub Cast-Iron 7-Quart Wok with Glass Lid, Black
Customer Rating: Summary: Staub Wok Comment: The Staub wok is ready to use immediately. Staub enameled cast iron products are highly durable. They do not discolor or rust, they resist chipping, and do not require seasoning. The interior, as well as the exterior surfaces are enameled iron. The durable black ---matte--- enamel interior, as with all Staub cast iron, doesn't need seasoning. The more you use your Staub product, the better it gets! Oils used when cooking will penetrate the pores of the ---matte enamel--- and create a natural, smooth, nonstick surface, just like a finely seasoned non-enameled iron pan. The smooth enameled exterior is easier to clean. Staub made a wonderfully functional design decision to coat the interior with a matte surface, while coating the exterior of the pan with the traditional smooth surface. Customer Rating: Summary: healthy cooking Comment: An answer to my requirement for healthy cooking. I like the depth and size, just nice for fried rice for 3, steamed fish and stir fry vegetables. Cleaning is an ease, no need to worry about seasoning or rust. However, it takes longer time to heat up the cooking oil but I just love cooking in it. Great display on my oven top too. Customer Rating: Summary: Cooks nicely! Comment: Got this Staub wok a week ago and it cooks my food very well. The food also retains heat nicely for a good 20 mins with the fire off and when the cover is on. The food still "sticks" to the wok but I'm sure as time goes by, it will develop its non-stick nature. Customer Rating: Summary: Wok, big and beautiful! Comment: Nice deep wine red color, big size wok, great quality. What else does a chef want? More Reviews The Cast-iron 7-qt. Wok pan is an ideal choice for fast cooking, such as stir-fry meals, since it heats quickly and evenly, on bottom as well as sides of the pan. The pan includes a stainless rack for steaming or warming food, a glass lid, so it's easy to view contents while they cook, a wooden spatula and a set of chopsticks. Side handles allow for easy transport and serving. Used without the rack and lid, it makes a nice simmer pan for sauces and soups. It's no wonder, with such exceptional quality, Staub cookware is a top choice among fine restaurants. From the Alsace region of France comes this incredibly striking yet resilient cookware by Staub. Made of cast iron, with some pieces finished in rich shades of enameled ceramic, it has evolved into a complete line of cookware used by top chefs around the globe. Unique to Staub cast-iron lids are the self-basting spikes, small peaks jutting from the underside that continuously redistribute juices as they collect during the cooking process. In addition, each piece is created in a unique sand mold and made of the finest raw materials available, fired repeatedly to last over generations of cooks. It won't discolor, warp or produce hotspots and never requires seasoning. The even heat distribution and lasting heat retention are what make it so desirable, and what produces the most intense flavor and tenderness in every meal. Suitab Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Choosing Appliance -> Dishwashers Look for models with adjustable baskets and flexible internal layouts for varying load requirements. For example, a tilting upper basket allows large 30cm diameter plates in the lower basket and extra flaps can be raised or lowered to cater for small items or large pans. Staub Cast-Iron 7-Quart Wok with Glass Lid, Black Useful info -> Kitchen Tips The optimum location for the cook top is along an exterior wall, rather than on an island or peninsula. With a stove on an outside wall, it's easy to install an effective hood and ventilation system, essential to expel grease, smoke and combustion gases. The stove or cook top needs a 21- to 30-inch overhead clearance so cooks can readily see and access rear burners and the ventilation system can do its work efficiently. |
