Customer Reviews of Staub 4-Quart Round Cocotte, Grenadine
Customer Rating: Summary: Staub 3.5 Quart Round Cocotte, Yellow Comment: I've been looking for a porcelain over cast iron cook pot in this size for some time. I have a lot of Le Cruset, not just dutch ovens but other products as well, and one Staub dutch oven. These are the real work horses of my kitchen. I love the black interior which requires less care than the white porcelain of Le Cruset. This is a good size to use as a steamer, a casserole, or a pot to reheat in. It's not large enough to act as a stock pot or soup pot, but it works well for reheating soup. And the yellow is a clear bright pretty yellow. The price was very good, and the package arrived very shortly after my order was placed. More Reviews This 4-qt pot begs for a family favorite such as chicken and dumplings or a hearty soup. From the Alsace region, where one pot meals were a staple, the Staub Dutch Oven is a durable piece designed for extended slow cooking or roasting. Suitable for the stovetop or oven, it merges the lasting durability of cast iron with attractive, enameled ceramic using the latest design technology, including a self-basting lid with heavy metal knob, and side handles for easy transition to a serving area. The well-fitted lid helps seal in flavor, and the entire piece is attractive enough to set as a serving piece. Featured in Grenadine. From the Alsace region of France comes this incredibly striking yet resilient cookware by Staub. Made of cast iron and finished in rich shades of enameled ceramic, it originated with the round and oval Dutch oven, and has evolved into a complete line of cookware used by top chefs around the globe. Unique to Staub pots are the self-basting spikes, small peaks jutting from the lid underside that continuously redistribute juices as they collect during the cooking process. In addition, each piece is created in a unique sand mold and made of the finest raw materials available, fired repeatedly to last over generations of cooks. It won't discolor, warp or produce hotspots and never requires seasoning. The even heat distribution and lasting heat retention are what mak Choosing Appliance -> Plastic wrap An absolute must with a million and a half uses. But do not buy just any plastic wrap. Go to a restaurant supply store and buy a large roll of restaurant plastic wrap. It sticks much better than the common grocery store plastic wrap and is much cheaper per foot. Choosing Appliance -> Knives The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. You will also want to buy a sharpening steel. Staub 4-Quart Round Cocotte, Grenadine Kitchen tips -> Parsley To obtain more flavor from parsley, remove the stems and only use the leaves. Use a scissors to cut the leaves into pieces instead of chopping with a knife. Chopping generally causes the leaves to become mushy |
