Customer Reviews of Rachael Ray 1-1/2-Quart Cast-Iron Fondue Set, Blue
Customer Rating: Summary: Rachael Ray 1-1/2 Quart Cast-Iron Fondue Set Comment: I love this fondue set! It is the perfect size for our small family of three. It retains heat well, uses less oil than larger ones do (only 3 cups), melts chocolate like a dream (and without scorching), is less expensive to operate because you can use liquid fuel instead of the costlier gel (which doesn't get as hot), and is made well in general. I like the way the handles are made of enameled cast iron and can endure the same temperature as the whole fondue pot and won't deteriorate before the pot will. Plus, the handles extend from the fondue pot adequately to allow you to carry it securely from oven/stove to burner. They do get hot though so be sure to use potholders. The base plate is made of grooved cast iron and helps to stabilize the rechaud. It is not dishwasher safe, nor are the edges around the top of the pot sealed with enamel, which means you'll have to handwash and dry the set when you're through, but it cleans up well and shouldn't rust if you care for it properly. I initially ordered a Swissmar Montblanc (selling for more through Amazon and substantially more through other Amazon stores) and feel this product is superior in workmanship. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again and I think you'll be pleased too (especially if you're looking for value for your dollar). More Reviews Celebrate a birthday or anniversary around a pot of bubbling cheese fondue. This nine-piece cheese fondue set from Rachael Ray provides all the essentials for this fun meal, with a 1-1/2-quart fondue pot, a heavy-duty stand, liquid fuel holder, and six color-coded fondue forks. Perfect for a small family, eating fondue also can become a spirited game with penalty kisses for items lost in the melted cheese. Dip bread squares, apples, salami, carrots, or cauliflower in rich, melted Gruyere or cream cheese. The fondue pot and its stand feature cast-iron construction. The cast-iron pot benefits from unmatched durability against warping and breakage, superb heat retention, and even heat distribution. Porcelain enamel coats the fondue pot to eliminate the need for pre-seasoning on the interiors, which other cast-iron cookware requires. This construction also allows the pot to adapt for stovetop or oven use. The fondue pot is cast with two small handles. For the best care, use wooden stirring spoons or nonstick utensils when preparing fondue to avoid scratching the enamel surface. Likewise, avoid abrasive scrubbing pads in cleaning the fondue pot, washing only by hand in warm, soapy water. Dry the cast-iron pot immediately to ward off rust. Made in China, the set does not include fuel. A limited lifetime warranty covers the set. Upon shipping, the set measures 16-1/3 by 10-1/2 by 5-1/3 inches and weighs 13-2/5 pounds. --Jessica Reuling What's in the Box Choosing Appliance -> Dishwasher Choose a dishwasher with sturdy compression springs in the door. Also look for tough, lightweight nylon or graphite racks with cushioned tips that protect glassware and cookware. Weimer recommends choosing a model with a rack design that provides the largest, most flexible interior space and is configured for your belongings, including odd-shaped pieces. Choosing Appliance -> Baking sheete Not too much romance here, but essential for any functional kitchen. Buy the heaviest pans possible. Also, you should consider buying a non-stick silicon sheet: they make baking very easy! Rachael Ray 1-1/2-Quart Cast-Iron Fondue Set, Blue Useful info -> What is a Springform Pan Traditionally, a springform pan has been defined as a round pan, that with the aid of a clamp, has removable sides and bottom. Generally used for cheesecakes, these pans allow cakes or tortes to be easily extricated from the pan. |
