Customer Reviews of NordicWare Restaurant 12-Inch Stainless-Steel Lid
Customer Rating: Summary: Pkeased as Punch and its Made in USA too Comment: I bought a Nordic Ware Texas Skillet on markdown at the local big box store. It did not come with a lid. While the pan is described as 12". the inside diameter of the pan is about 11 and 7/8, and the outside diameter to the edge of the curled rim is about 12 1/2. I wondered if this lid would fit. Ift fits like a dream. The lid has a flat rim about 1/2 inch wide giving the lid an outside diameter of about 12 7/8". You can see from the picture the dome of the lid is set below the flat rim. On the underside the protruding circle of the dome is about 11 3/8" As long as the outside rim-to-rim diameter of your pot is not a lot bigger than 12" (to let the flat rim of the lid rest on the rim of your pot) And the inside diameter of your pot is not smaller than about 11 7/8" (so the dipping part of the lid can fit inside your pot It will fit great. This is the same lid design I got in my Nordic Ware Restaurant 7-Piece Cookware Set. The largest lid in that set is 10 inches, based upon similar measuring technique. This 12" lid is also stainless steel, made in USA, and slightly less polished than the Restaurant lid. These are the greatest lids. They sit flat on the pot. They do not rattle or shake. Instead of building up steam and boiling over they let steam out so evenly you cannot see it. The kitchen gets less steamy. The dropped dome must be part of it. I love it. Everyone should have a set of these lids. Made in USA! Pass it on! Customer Rating: Summary: Adequate Comment: This lid was a replacement for a heavy glass lid I hated. I like its light weight. I would rather have a smooth, shiny surface because the stainless surface is harder to clean and shows finger marks. It was too big for a 12-inch Wearever saute pan, but a universal lid I bought at Target was too small. I used weatherstripping on its edge to make a seal and so far, it works. For the money, I'm satisfied -- sure beats buying a new pan! More Reviews From NordicWare comes this 8-in. Stainless-Steel Lid. 8-in. Stainless-Steel Lid Fits the NordicWare 8-in. Choosing Appliance -> Spoons Buy stainless spoons (both slotted and non-slotted) which are solid and won't bend no matter how tough the job. Also, buy several high quality wooden spoons for stirring delicate dishes like risotto (the sharp edge of a metal spoon would cut or bruise the rice). Choosing Appliance -> Knives The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. You will also want to buy a sharpening steel.
