Customer Reviews of Zojirushi CV-DSC40 VE Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer, Stainless Steel
Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful Comment: We bought this for Christmas. Our family drinks tea, hot chocolate, or hot cider all day, and this item is just what we needed. We were always heating up and refilling the teakettle, but now we just fill this up the night before and the next day we have 208 degree water in an instant. The unit is beautiful, and holds a gallon of water. This is enough to get us through the day without refilling. Customer Rating: Summary: Finally got one and couldn't be happier Comment: I've been wanting a Zojirushi water dispenser forever and I received this model as a Christmas present from my very thoughtful boyfriend. I'm a regular loose leaf tea and french press coffee drinker & I'm very pleased with this product. The unit is sturdy but not heavy; it's very easy to use and clean; very stylish stainless steel body; operates exactly as described. I haven't tested the accuracy of the temperature settings yet but so far everything from Oolong tea to white tea has tasted great. As for coffee, there's plenty of water to fill my 8 cup press twice. I really like the slow dispense mode because my hand doesn't get splashed with hot water. A great product! Customer Rating: Summary: Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer Comment: Zojirushi CV-DSC40 VE Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer, Stainless Steel Due to its vacuum insulation, it certainly saves a bit of power when compared with just an electric kettle and maybe some time. I am not sure it is worth the extra $100 over and above the price of a top-of-the-line stainless kettle though. Probably most appropriate for a large family of tea drinkers. Lots of bells and whistles that may - or may not - be worth it. I am hoping that it will pay off in the usual Japanese reliability and long life. Customer Rating: Summary: Better than any kettle Comment: This is a great product. It's very well designed. I leave it on the vacuum setting, which means that it won't reboil water to keep it at a certain temperature unless I manually do so. I can have hot water all day (the vacuum insulation is one of the best) and I only have to hit the "reboil" button about 3-5 times the entire day. It can, however keep the water above three temperature marks. The 4L capacity prevents me from needing to fetch water more than once or twice a day (even when I use it to fill my hot water bottle at night). People should know that they'll need to get a large pitcher to fill the appliance (shouldn't put it directly under the faucet as it might damage the electrical components). I also appreciated how it allows for different notification sounds--a tune, five beeps or silent. The notification is handy (you immediately know when the water is ready) except when I set it to run early in the morning, in which case I use silent so as not to wake others. Then I can have a hot cup of tea as soon as I want after waking. This is perfect for people who drink a lot of tea, eat a lot of instant noodles, or who don't have easy access to a stove (say, in a dorm room or if you rent out a room). It even keeps the water hot enough for pressed or drip coffee. It's amazing how convenient it is to have this kettle in the room where I work. It saves a lot of time. The only negative is that I believe the watersleeve is non-stick and I would have preferred to have plain steel or ceramic to prevent leeching. I can see why they would make it nonstick even though it is only for water however (resists hardwater buildup). Customer Rating: Summary: Please read the instructions! Comment: This is a rebuttal to Jessie's review. She asserts that the water heater doesn't accurately heat the water to her desired temperature. What she doesn't know is that the water heater always boils the water first to drive out the chlorine, then the temperature drifts down to it's preset limit where it is kept warm. What Jessie needs to do is to fill the unit before bed, set the timer and when she wakes up she will be rewarded with water at her desired temperature. It will keep the water at that temperature until she fills it again, then it will boil the water again, and let it drift down to her pre-set temperature. This is a terrific little unit: efficient, accurate, and a joy to those who read their instructions. More Reviews CV-DSC40 Hybrid Water Boiler 5 Liters Choosing Appliance -> Dishwasher Choose a dishwasher with sturdy compression springs in the door. Also look for tough, lightweight nylon or graphite racks with cushioned tips that protect glassware and cookware. Weimer recommends choosing a model with a rack design that provides the largest, most flexible interior space and is configured for your belongings, including odd-shaped pieces. Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Zojirushi CV-DSC40 VE Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer, Stainless Steel Useful info -> Outdoor Kitchen An outdoor kitchen can help you slow down and spend more time with family and friends by putting all the ingredients for outdoor dining close at hand. It can be as simple as a storage cabinet for cooking gear or as ambitious as a full kitchen with grill, refrigerator, sink and eating area. Either way, your yard will gain an outside "room" that's a natural gathering spot. |
