Customer Rating:   Summary: Lekue Silicone lids 4, 8 1/2 and 10 inch Comment: One of the best pieces of cookware accessories I have ever used. They work well on any pan both on the stove and in the microwave. They keep splatter out of the microwave oven (cleaning is easier). The frying splatter is kept to a minimum when used on the stovetop. If the lid size is larger than the pan or skillet the silicone lid will seal itself and keep liquid and juices contained. It also covers odd size containers well. Best of all it can withstand high temperatures and will not melt below 350 degrees. Customer Rating: Summary: Very handy Comment: I was looking for something to work as a lid to a milk bottle when I came across these silicone lids in various sizes. While all were too large to work as a bottle lid, they are great for covering all sorts of other containers and pans, from small ramekins to cereal bowls to mixing bowls and skillets. I bought 3 different brands in various sizes: 4", 8.5", and 10" Lekue, small (approx. 3.5") and large (approx. 6") Progressive International, and 12.5" Silicone Zone. The handles (or convexity at the center of the Silicone Zone model) prevent containers from being stacked atop one another for the most efficient storage, and while they do stop grease from spattering out of a skillet, they also trap steam and moisture so I still prefer my fine stainless steel mesh splatter screen. Otherwise, a useful product and a good alternative to plastic wrap for storage and microwaving. Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Ease of cleaning is well worth considering at the outset. Stay clean liners resist dirt build-up but pyrolitic cleaning is the ultimate. It burns off all baked-on debris at 500°C so that all you have to do is sweep out the resulting ash. Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Cleaning & Maintenance Oven Never use a scouring pad of any sort to remove stubborn stains or soiled areas, since these pads scratch the finish and any future soiled areas won't clean up as well, especially with the self-cleaning models. When the oven is cool to the touch, place a cloth or sponge, dampened with warm to hot tap water, onto the soiled area and allow it to sit, for about ten minutes or so, to help loosen the soil. |
