Customer Reviews of Mario Batali Panini Grill and Press, Chianti
Customer Rating: Summary: So-so so far Comment: Have used this pan once, and heated it on high to make sure the heat got through to the lid, which is supposed to cook the top of the sandwich. The bottom of the sandwich burnt black and started smoking within 20 seconds, and the top never browned the top of the sandwich. I had to turn off the burner, flip it over after I unstuck it, and brown it the rest of the way. I'm not giving up though, next time I will heat the pan on medium heat. The pan is now soaking the in sink to get the carbon off! Customer Rating: Summary: Try using it for steaks! They cook really fast!! Comment: We got this for Christmas last year and never even thought about cooking sandwiches with it. Heat the bottom and top (really hot) over a hot stove and cook a steak, on both sides without turning it!! You will have to make sure that there is a little oil on the steak or the pan, but not much. Great for "grilling" in the winter Customer Rating: Summary: Don't buy it, too heavy to return Comment: I ended up giving it away to a friend of mine. I just kept the lid which makes the marks and is heavy enough to make panninis. It's too heavy to cook, clean, or store. It's really and eyesore color as well. I got the "persimmon" but who are they kidding, it's orange and who has an orange kitchen. Even if you were going to leave it on your stovetop, you'd have to constant move it around and it's too heavy to do that. There are so many other grill and presses out there, don't get this one. Even if you could return it, it's like 20lbs w/ box and everything. Customer Rating: Summary: Unacceptable product Comment: Sandwich bread was literally welded to the bottom of the grill at medium low heat. The bottom of my sandwich could not be removed from the utensil. The strange enamelled matte finish, which is not to be seasoned, is unsuitable for its intended purpose. Used once and thrown out. The product is attractive but functionally worthless and is rated "unacceptable." Customer Rating: Summary: great for steaks, vegtables and fish Comment: I use this pan for steaks, fish and vegtables. Steaks on this pan at medium high heat are incredible. The pan is very heavy and it holds heat well. Try grilling asparagus on this, toss in some fresh rosemary at the end. Downside: The pan is quite large, it's very heavy and it's not easy to clean. My 18yo son who is learning to cook has this on his "must have list", (along with my plasma tv) More Reviews Through his restaurants, cookbooks, products and television shows, Mario Batali breathes the spirit of the Old World into modern day America and shows us how to revel in the inherent joys of daily life. This Panini Press and Grill Set, shown here in Chianti, makes an awesome addition to any kitchen as well as a wonderful gift for friends or family. Constructed from durable enameled cast iron, it features a generous grilling surface perfect to make panini sandwiches, pork chops, vegetables, fruit and so much more! Its black matte interior will not react to acidic foods and is incredibly easy to clean thanks to a lovely porcelain enamel exterior coating. It is safe to use on gas, electric and ceramic-top ranges. Choosing Appliance -> Salad spinner While some may consider this a bit on the gadgety side, I think it is a must as dressings do not stick to water-logged salad greens. Choosing Appliance -> Ovens Most avid bakers prefer separate, even-heat double electric ovens. If that describes you - and you have the space - be sure one of the ovens is equipped with a broiler that provides at least 3,000 watts of cooking power. Also look for racks that pull all the way out and lock in place for safe, easy access to the oven. On the inside, a dark interior shows less baked-on grime, while a porcelain interior is easier to clean Mario Batali Panini Grill and Press, Chianti Useful info -> Tips If you plan to install a dishwasher, place it close to the sink. Where you choose to put it might depend on whether you're right- or left-handed and on the path dishes are likely to take when cleared from the table. Also consider the choreography of two people loading and unloading the machine |
