Customer Reviews of Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 10-Inch & 12-Inch Omelet Combo Pack
Customer Rating: Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5
Summary: Best grilled cheese I ever made.
Comment: I bought this set to complement a set of Calphalon One Infused. I couldn't wait to try them out and started with a mozarella/tomato/basil grilled cheese. I and my three-year old devoured that thing. It put a smooth, caramelized surface on the bread that I've never gotten from another nonstick.

Summary: db1
Comment: I have had these pans now for over a year using them from breakfast to hamburgers and steak. They work GREAT!!! as have all my Calphalon cookware.

Summary: You get what you pay for....
Comment: A previous reviewer commented: If you have a ceramic stove top, be warned that these pots warp when they are hot, so they do not sit flat and they do not heat evenly or well.

I agree wholeheartedly- these pans are rather thin and have poor heat distribution, especially on a ceramic stove top.

On the positive side, they are OK. They might be suitable as a starter set- attractive- have a good non-stick surface (so far).

OTH- keep in mind that even with the Calphalon branding, they are cheaply made and will likely warp with high heat.

I was a little disappointed. You do get what you pay for....

Customer Rating: Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5
Summary: Great pans but no covers
Comment: I purchased these pans to replace some aging Simply Calphalon pans that I'd used for years and liked. I thought I wanted 8" and 10" pans but have found that the 10" and 12" sizes are more versatile. This is a good deal for the price except there are no covers to contain the splatters. Fortunately I was able to get some covers that fit the pans so I am a happy camper. I use these pans daily with olive oil and canola oil and get great results. Just be sure to use nonstick utensils and don't use spray oils but then, you won't need much oil.

Customer Rating: Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5
Summary: Great pans for 6 months... then begins to stick
Comment: These pans were so slippery I loved the way I could throw eggs in the air to flip them. Perfect pan weight, good heat distribution, nice rounded corners. My everyday egg theatre ended after 6 months when the eggs started to stick. Now I have to scrape off the eggs. 5+ stars for 6 months, 1 star afterwards. I'm going to test the lifetime warranty. If Calphalon pulls through my rating will go back up to 5.

Choosing Appliance -> Do I need a dishwasher?
If you enjoy washing by hand, no! However modern machines use less water, detergent and power than ever before and wash hotter using really powerful cleaners giving a hygienic wash result. You can save around 500 hours a year so it is worth thinking about. If you have a small kitchen or live alone, choose a slimline model.
Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards
There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening!

Useful info ->
Is the top or bottom element going to perform the self-cleaning cycle? Some ovens only use the top element and others only use the bottom one. Better designed ovens use the bottom element. The reason for this is that most grease spills and splatters (soil) will accumulate on the sides and the floor of the cavity - not on the ceiling (where the broiler is located) and therefore, the element that is the closest to these soiled areas should be the one to work the strongest in order to bake off the soil.
