Customer Reviews of Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 1-3/4-Quart Moroccan Tagine, Cobalt
Customer Rating: Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5
Summary: Best tasting meat dishes ever!
Comment: After reading all reviews, I purchased one of these. I did a little research on the condensation issue brought up by one reviewer and found that it is most likely because the heat is too high. I have a Decor stove with 18,000 btu burners, and even using the flame tamer and the very lowest setting, my new Le Creuset tagine has a problem with condensation, just as the reviewer mentioned. However, after reading that this is a sign of the heat being too high, I just turn off the burner for a couple of minutes when I see the condensation forming, and it disappears.

I know, it is a bit of a bother to have to turn off the burner every now and then, but it is worth it. Food cooked in this tagine is fantastic! There must be something about that chimney basting the food throughout the cooking that improves the flavor. The taste of the spices permeates the meat so that every fork full is a delight. I have never tasted food this good! It's far better than a crock pot for slow cooking, and the recipes don't have to be Moroccan. I just did a venison stew in it, and it was excellent.

I don't mind that it doesn't fit in my cupboards. It doesn't need to, because I use it all the time, at least three or four meals every week. It sits in a place of honor on my stove top.

If you want fork tender meat with outstanding flavor, then this should be your next purchase!

Summary: Messy
Comment: Big disappointment here. Seems no matter what you cook, it ends up
spilling all over the stove. Have tried both adding a little water and
none, the same thing happens. Been searching the net and found many
comment on the le creuset that this is a design flaw not found in others.
As far as taste will have to agree with others, if cooked in a reg
le creuset casserole taste the same. Its just a cool looking dish to
have in the kitchen.

Summary: Awesome!
Comment: I don't have any experience cooking Moroccan cuisine but have been intrigued by the tagine for a while. I eventually broke down and bought one, and couldn't be happier!!!! First try with my new tagine and received many rave reviews from some picky/brutally honest friends/family!

The tagine was very easy to use, and more amazingly it was SO easy to clean after the meal! (I thought with the sticky ingredients, and almost 2 hour cook time that it would be baked on but it seriously came right off!!!)

I didn't experience any liquid pouring over or spitting out as one reviewer mentioned but I will experiment more and see what happens!

As many other reviewers have mentioned - The Honey Chicken was great!

LOVE my Le Creuset Tagine!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Beautiful cookware
Comment: I was very happy to discover that not only is this tagine a hardworking, efficient Le Creuset product, but it's also very beautiful. It's heavy, of course, but perfect for the kind of slow cooking necessary in this kind of cuisine. I bought it for a Christmas present and it was difficult to part with it.

More Reviews This stunning Moroccan Tagine is designed with a shallow enameled dish and conical lid which is ideal for the long, slow simmering of rich, flavorful recipes. The eye-catching, tight-fitting lid forms an excellent seal to keep moisture and heat inside. The conical shape also helps moisture circulate throughout the piece so there's no need to open, stir or turn the tagine, making for easy preparation.About Le Creuset... Since 1925, artisans have been crafting Le Creuset cookware in the French village of Fresnoy Le Grand. Each piece of Le Creuset cast iron cookware is handcast, polished, double enamel-coated and then fired, resulting in some of the finest quality cookware available. Heavy lids securely seal in moisture and flavor. Le Creuset cookware comes in a variety of sizes, colors and styles to match any kitchen and cooking preference. So lasting, you'll pass it on to the next generation of promising cooks.

Choosing Appliance -> Dishwasher
Choose a dishwasher with sturdy compression springs in the door. Also look for tough, lightweight nylon or graphite racks with cushioned tips that protect glassware and cookware. Weimer recommends choosing a model with a rack design that provides the largest, most flexible interior space and is configured for your belongings, including odd-shaped pieces.
Choosing Appliance -> Salad spinner
While some may consider this a bit on the gadgety side, I think it is a must as dressings do not stick to water-logged salad greens.

Useful info -> Grill
Grilling is a pervasive tradition in the United States. There are many cook-offs for steak grilling and good 'ole fashion barbecue (mid-western and southern style) around the United States with serious cash prizes involved in most. Almost all competition grillers use charcoal, most often in large, custom designed brick or steel grills. They can range from a few 55 gallon oil drums sawed lengthwise on their sides to make a lid and grill base, to large, vehicle sized grills made of brick, weighing nearly a ton.
