Customer Reviews of Scanpan Professional 8-Inch Fry/Omelet Pan
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Pan! Comment: This is a great pan for anyone who uses their frying pan a lot. I cook eggs every morning! Customer Rating: Summary: Nice pan Comment: I bought the pan because of the ceramic non-stick surface - I've never had one and wanted to try it after seeing good reviews. I'm very happy with it and would purchase again. It isn't quite as "slick" as a teflon pan, but you can use metal utensils (I use care with them) although it's probably better to avoid them if you can. The pan also seems to brown better than a traditional teflon pan, which is a nice plus I hadn't expected. Steve Customer Rating: Summary: Overrated and Not So Non-stick Pan Comment: We got a large sauce pan, 1 small and 1 medium size fry pans. I was very excited the first time we got our Scanpans. I read about the new technology surrounding this product that supposedly to be non-stick for many years. Now, we only have the big sauce pan left. We have to throw away the 2 fry pans. To give it some credit, they lasted a couple of years before it started to peel off (actually not peeling off like a teflon. It starts to have some tiny holes on the surface which grows in size as you use it. Then finally when we see the metal base, we got worried that pieces of those non-stick surface gets to our food that we decided it's time to get rid of it). The non-stick properties starts to wear off before it lasted a year. Pros: -heavy and thick to distribute heat evenly -Handles are oven resistant so you can actually use it to cook in the oven -Well made, great construction. Durable. Cons: -Not as non-stick as teflon. And non-stick properties continue to deteriorates as you use it. Approximately a year. -Not a good value. For the price, it should last much longer. -Not for induction cooking. Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Comment: Well made, durable, looks good... What more do you need from a frying pan? (Actually, a lid would have been nice.) I disagree with the 1 star review trying to fuel the PTFE scare. You MIGHT need to worry if you're MAKING the pans at a factory, but the finished product is NOT carcinogenic. I'm a scientist and I read the real literature about this - my opinion is that there is no cause to worry about the nonstick coating. Customer Rating: Summary: Liked the pan/customer service was awful Comment: After reading all of the good reviews I decided to get this pan. If I really liked it I was also going to purchase the chef's set of other pans. When it arrived I was so excited. I had been using a cheap omelet pan that all of the teflon had worn off and I was ready to invest in some good pans. Two things I found out. If you put veggies in your omelet and they touch the pan it will stick, but it cleaned up easily. I had to put a teaspoon of butter in. Second the rivets stick out and food collects around them so I have to take a toothpick to them occasionally. One of the rivets started moving, which I don't believe it is supposed to do. I called Scanpan 3 times so far and keep getting an answering machine. I leave a message but no one calls me back. I will try again today. I am deliberating if I should get the classic in the other pans but I hate the glass lids and this problem with Customer service is leaving me leery of making another purchase with this company. More Reviews 60002000 8" Fry Pan Professional Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Keen cooks may want to take advantage of multi-function ovens - usually aimed at the top end of the market. As well as traditional cooking, fan or fan-assisted cooking and grilling, these ovens offer up to nine further functions. These include: Top element only (browning), bottom element (final cooking of pastry dishes or pizzas), fan and bottom element (delicate cooking), fan only (thawing). Choosing Appliance -> Dishwashers Look for models with adjustable baskets and flexible internal layouts for varying load requirements. For example, a tilting upper basket allows large 30cm diameter plates in the lower basket and extra flaps can be raised or lowered to cater for small items or large pans. Scanpan Professional 8-Inch Fry/Omelet Pan Useful info -> Outdoor Kitchen An outdoor kitchen can help you slow down and spend more time with family and friends by putting all the ingredients for outdoor dining close at hand. It can be as simple as a storage cabinet for cooking gear or as ambitious as a full kitchen with grill, refrigerator, sink and eating area. Either way, your yard will gain an outside "room" that's a natural gathering spot. |
