Customer Reviews of Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron 8 Quart Dutch Oven, Cabernet Red
Customer Rating: Summary: Happy Customer Comment: I just received my 8quart dutch oven! I bought the vibrant green, which is even more lovely in reality. (I hope my fiance likes this for a Christmas gift.) I think he will, this pot is super large (will easily support a recipe for a family of 6) and practical/economical. I'm a little concerned about other reviews I've read that mention chipping/cracking, but I'm happy so far. Customer Rating: Summary: Calphalon Enamel 8 qt Dutch Oven - Cabernet Color Comment: Recently received and used the product. This is my second Calphalon dutch oven. I have a number of other Calphalon cookware products and have had generally good to excellent experience with the products after several years of use. Purchased this one because of design and reasonable price compared to the very high cost of the product from the major, and most famous, French manufacturer. The 8 qt dutch oven is quite large and heavy, but this is necessary for cookware of this type. The design is fits well in all settings , but I think is particularly sharp in a contemporary style kitchen. It does its' job well. The finish is rich and it cleans up well with a non-abrasive scrubber pad or Bartender's Friend. I have made a large batch of chili twice, several Indian casserole type dishes, and oven baked a chicken. All turned out very well. I have no complaints to date. Would definitely purchase again and recommend to others who are seeking a good product at the 'sweet spot' price. There are cheaper acceptable choices (see Cook's Illustrated review 2007) and much more expensive good choices if you wish to spare no expense. Customer Rating: Summary: Great pot for a great price Comment: My husband got me this dutch oven for Christmas, and I love it. So far I've only used it for chili and soup--haven't yet tried it in the oven, but I'm sure it will work great for roasting as well. The price is much more affordable than the Le Crueset ones I've been coveting... More Reviews Love meat tender? This spacious Dutch Oven is the perfect choice for slow cooked soups, stews and fork-tender pot roasted meats. Made of heavy-gauge cast iron, the pot distributes heat evenly and keeps food warm, while the handsome design is ideal for presenting food at the table. Lifetime warranty. Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes. Choosing Appliance -> Non-stick Pans We recommend having at least 1 high quality non-stick saute pan. It makes cooking eggs and delicate items like fish a breeze. It also cuts down on the amount of fat necessary to effectively saute. The best place to buy such pans is from a restaurant supplier. Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron 8 Quart Dutch Oven, Cabernet Red Useful info -> Tips If you plan to install a dishwasher, place it close to the sink. Where you choose to put it might depend on whether you're right- or left-handed and on the path dishes are likely to take when cleared from the table. Also consider the choreography of two people loading and unloading the machine |
