Customer Reviews of Oxo Good Grips Aluminum Lemon Reamer
Customer Rating: Summary: Wooden Version is Better Comment: I second what other cooks have stated here. OXO's wooden version of this citrus reamer is much better and three dollars cheaper to boot. The grooves on the wooden reamer are deeper and sharper and "catch" the sides of the fruit better, getting more juice out. Customer Rating: Summary: Looks Nice - Doesn't Work Comment: This reamer looks nice and is easy to clean, that's where my good comments end. This tool is too smooth to properly ream citrus. It just spins around with very little juice coming out of the lemon. Best reamer is a plain wood one. The wood has enough texture to properly ream and makes for a good grip. Most markets sell them for under $2.00 Customer Rating: Summary: I prefer the wooden lemon reamer Comment: Somehow, the edges aren't sharp enough, so it doesn't work that well. I purchased a wooden one at some later point, and I tend to favor it since it seems less slippery and has sharper edges. Customer Rating: Summary: so far so good Comment: Cannot complain, it's very heavy but needs to be hand washed and dried promptly after using because I guess it could rust or stain?? But really, I just use it in dishes calling for citrus and I have no problem washing it off because it doesn't need a good scrub if it's just cirtus on it. I think it's a great product, better then squeezing the lemons and limes! Customer Rating: Summary: perfection for a great price Comment: Everything in their advertisement is true. Good balance, easy on the hand, non-slip grip, easy clean-up.... can't be beat. non-stain, so far... More Reviews Now this is a reamer that will make quick, easy work of juicing lemons, limes, or oranges. Very sturdy, with a comfy, non-slip handle, it will allow you to exert maximum force while also giving you great control. Choosing Appliance -> Knives The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. You will also want to buy a sharpening steel. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Oxo Good Grips Aluminum Lemon Reamer Kitchen tips -> Rice cooking Add a few drops of lemon juice and a teaspoon of oil to rice when cooking. This will allow the rice to separate and not stick together after it is cooked. You can also try just adding a tablespoon of vinegar to the water to prevent rice from sticking |
