Customer Reviews of Juiceman Jr. Elite Pro JM211 Juice Extractor
Customer Rating: Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5
Summary: Excellent Product
Comment: I've used the Juiceman Jr for over a year with no problems. It's sturdy and produces dependable results i.e. good juice every time. The clean up isn't bad either. If you're into juicing there's nothing not to like about this product!!!

Customer Rating: Rating: 2/5Rating: 2/5Rating: 2/5Rating: 2/5Rating: 2/5
Summary: works great - if you like plastic in your juice...
Comment: well...

after three _days_ of once-a-day use with immediate full cleaning, the blades bent upwards enough to start grating the plastic chute into my juice. :-(

luckily the loud grinding noise and the burning plastic smell made it easy to realize what was going on, and quickly turn the machine off.

someone else mentioned having the same issue and thought perhaps their basket was defective. well, it's possible that both of ours were, but i would say it would definately be something to look out for. check the bottom of your chute after juicing to see if there is plastic being shaved off.

if the chute was even 1/8-inch shorter, this problem would never happen as the blades aren't that tall - even if fully bent upwards (not that mine are, but they are really small blades).

prior to the plastic juice, the machine worked great. carrots, celery, spinach, lemons, grapefruit, grapes, even soft mangos... they all were juiced really well with no splatter.

so - 2 of 5. works great, while it works.

now looking at other brands/models that don't have a chute so close to the blades.

Summary: Need Parts
Comment: I dropped the Juiceman Jr. on the floor and a piece of the top broke off. I can't find any place that sells replacement parts.

Summary: Not built to last...
Comment: If Amazon[.com] had a zero star rating, that's what I would give this product. I have had my machine for about three months and enjoyed it while it worked. I have meticulously maintained and cleaned it after each use. I recently detected a burning odor from the machine and it got really loud. I realized what was going on when I closely examined the parts. The blade basket is really cheap (gotta cut cost somewhere). The teeth on the blade that are used to grind and liquify eventually start to bend upward and actually start eating into the plastic food chute. Perhaps I just have a defective blade, but I doubt it since it worked fine when I got it. In any event, unbeknownst to me, I probably ingested small particles of plastic with my yummy fruit drink. Needless to say, I am extremely unhappy with this product. Perhaps they just want you to buy a new basket every three months. My advice, save your money and get one of the heavy duty machines, or you can find mine on ebay!...;-)

Summary: The strong motor makes all difference
Comment: I've experienced several juicers over the past 10 years, and have come to realize that the motor represents its most vital part. Moreover, the 1/4 hp motor used in the Juiceman Jr. Elite Pro JM211 makes it a superior product that should last one for many years. I estimate that I've made over 500 gallons of juice with mine in its lifetime and the motor does not seem to be showing any signs of let down.

A few tips:
1) Always clean the basket with a brush so that fibers will not dry and clog the meshing.
2) Rinse with hot water daily and thoroughly clean weekly. Better to clean less frequently than to have another excuse for not making the juice!
3) Avoid things like cantaloupe rinds and parsley when the blade begins to dull. Although buying a new blade is usually not necessary, it will help to do so every year if you plan to juice things with tough fibers.
4) Always unplug the juicer before taking it apart for cleaning.

More Reviews Whether you're into nutrition-laden wheatgrass tonics or really superb fresh orange juice, a juicer is a great way to go. Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet, and additive-free fresh juice is a convenient and quick alternative to eating all of them whole. This Juiceman Junior is best for the more casual juice enthusiast, but is still plenty powerful and quick. Two latches hold the juice bowl, blade basket, and cover on the base unit, which has a footprint comparable to the average blender. Produce cut to the appropriate size goes in the feed tube, then is gently pressed into the blade basket with a plunger. Juice pours out one spout, while the pulp--including seeds and skin--shoots out into a separate pulp basket. The low speed setting is for softer produce such as oranges and apples, while the high speed setting takes care of harder fruits and vegetables such as carrots and pineapples. Enjoy the juice and use the pulp in recipes such as those for carrot cake. A basic cookbook and audiotape of juicing tips are included.

Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards
There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening!
Choosing Appliance -> Dishwashers
Look for models with adjustable baskets and flexible internal layouts for varying load requirements. For example, a tilting upper basket allows large 30cm diameter plates in the lower basket and extra flaps can be raised or lowered to cater for small items or large pans.

Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Maximize the efficiency of appliances
You can also maximize the efficiency of appliances you already own through regular maintenance and tune-ups and system upgrades. Examples of some things that you can do are:
  • Check air filters in heating and cooling systems monthly during the seasons they are in use and clean and replace them as necessary.
  • Clean air vents, baseboards, and radiators regularly and keep them unrestricted by furniture, carpets, or drapes.
  • Release trapped air from hot water radiators once or twice a season by opening the valve until nothing but water comes out.
  • Follow prescribed maintenance (e.g., maintaining certain water levels in steam heat systems).
  • Install an insulating jacket on your hot water heater, insulate hot water pipes, and lower the water heater temperature.
  • Clean refrigerator coils yearly and maintain internal temperatures between 36 degrees F (2.2 degrees C) and 38 degrees F (33 degrees C) for the refrigerator compartment and between 0 degrees F (17.8 degrees C) and 5 degrees F (15.0 degrees C) for the freezer compartment.
  • Move the refrigerator if it is currently located near the stove or dishwasher.
  • Regularly defrost refrigerators that do not have a completely automatic defrost capability to eliminate ice build-up on interior coils.
  • Clean dryer filters after each use or as necessary.
