Customer Reviews of Amco 13-Inch Splatter Screen
Customer Rating: Summary: Better than the rest! Comment: I threw my old one away! This one is one of the few spatter screens that actually covers larger pans. I use it almost every day. Washes nicely in dishwasher. Customer Rating: Summary: Sturdy but a little hard to balance on the pan Comment: This screen works well, and is reasonably easy to clean. It seems sturdy and had no defects in workmanship. The only complaint is I would have liked it to have a shorter handle as it makes it a little off balance. The handle is nice and sturdy which causes the balance issue, but if it was 2 inches shorter it wouldn't be an issue. Customer Rating: Summary: Big, Top Quality Comment: The splatter screen is high quality . . . should last for many years to come. It's large . . . mesh area is 12.5 inches across. Customer Rating: Summary: Splatter Screen Comment: The screen's very fine mesh does hold in the splatters; however, it also holds in the steam thus causing the food to steam rather than fry/brown. The screen needs to be removed from time to time to allow the steam to escape and the food to brown. The handle is very weak and not attached well. I am disappointed in the handle's attachment. Customer Rating: Summary: Amco Splatter Screen Comment: This product was rated #1 by America Test Kitchen and I wanted to see for myself if their rating held true. I am glad to report that they were right. More Reviews Indispensable splatter screen is Professional Performance stainless steel for solid performance and easy clean-up. Diameter: 13" Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking. Choosing Appliance -> Mixer Pretty much the same thoughts as the food processor. High quality mixers are great for making bread or other tough jobs. Every kitchen should have one. Be sure that any mixer has all three attachments: paddle, dough hook, and whip. Also, find a spot on the counter where it can be easily accessed at a moment's notice. Amco 13-Inch Splatter Screen Kitchen tips -> Bananas
