Summary: Great Flavour, Good Markings, Easy Cleanup.
Comment: Pros: The square shape of this pan can accomodate 4 medium sized chicken breasts or 2 decent sized steaks. The high sides help prevent the cooking from splattering all over the stovetop. The tall grill ridges provide good sear marks and let the grease accumulate on the bottom. That grease continues to cook under AND away from the meat giving it a hint of smoke that is as close as you can get to a charcoal grill. Clean up is easy: when cool, use a stiff brush and plain hotwater, then reheat on the grill and wipe down w/ papertowel soaked in oil.

Cons: You will still need to season it a little. It will smoke when you try to grill on it the first 10 X or so. It is ugly and heavy.

Tips on seasoning: the oven method works fine, but the best (and quickest) way to season this grill pan is to fill it partway w/ cooking oil and deep fry something like you would in a skillet. The sides are high enough and after a few times, your grill pan will be seasoned.

If you want a grill pan that gives great flavour get this one. If you don't want the flavour get the other ones on the market. If you care about splattering, get this one, if you don't get the flat grills.

Summary: Fantastic flavor!
Comment: A cast iron grill is a must for every home cook! Heat it up, throw on fish / meat / veggies and you have a delicious healthy meal without the bother of outdoor grills. You get a great sear / crust / grill marks on the outside of your food, and inside it is just juicy - cheaper than the George Foreman, but the food is so much better! I got this in my gold box for $10, and I use it almost every day. Seasoning the pan is not hard - it keeps it with a great non-stick finish and only needs to be done once a year. Great product!

Summary: Good but Could be Better
Comment: The grill pan is wonderful except it needs a lid to keep in the flavor and to speed up the cooking process. My husband accidentally put the grill pan in the dishwasher and when I removed it; it had rust all over it. I had to throw it out. Never make this mistake!

Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Hob and grill cooking
Modern appliances reach higher temperatures quicker - and often hold heat longer. To avoid worktop damage, follow both the appliance manufacturers instructions and these rules:
  • Always use the correct size of pan for the burner, placed centrally. An overhanging pan can scorch surrounding surfaces. Don't use two burners as one (e.g. for a large griddle) - it has the same effect.
  • To reduce heat, turn the burner down instead of pulling the utensil partially off the heat source.
