Customer Reviews of William Bounds Key Mill "WB-1" Pepper Mill
Customer Rating: Summary: Lasts a long time Comment: My old William Bounds pepper mill just broke after 14 plus years of frequent use. A small piece of plastic came off the bottom, but the mechanism for grinding was still intact. We just purchased another one to replace it. The small size and variable pepper coarseness knob are great. Customer Rating: Summary: Fabulous product, but doesn't last long Comment: I bought this in January with a gift certificate I got to a cooking store. I have loved it ever since. I use a lot of black pepper in my cooking and it completely suits my needs as it is very easy to grind a lot of pepper quickly and easily. However, just now, as I was making salsa, the bottom of it cracked, a chunk of plastic fell out and peppercorns fell in my salsa... I had to pick peppercorns & fish a piece of plastic out of my salsa. I am so disappointed. I haven't even owned it a year and it's broken already. Customer Rating: Summary: A good pepper mill Comment: I searched for quite some time for a usable pepper mill that one did not have to have the strength of 10,000 in order to operate. The William Bounds Key Mill WB-1 Pepper Mill fit the bill to a tee. I have arthritis in my hands and this pepper mill is very easily turned for both a fine grind and a coarse grind. I enjoy cooking and a great many recipes call for a fresh grind and now I can accommodate this particular component of the recipe. I recommend this pepper mill. Customer Rating: Summary: Finally, an excellent pepper mill Comment: My thanks to Cooks Illustrated for praising William Bounds mills. It is actually possible to select fine, medium, or coarse grind and get it. As it comes with a mix of quality peppers, I haven't checked the ease of fill. This works the way it should, and looks good, too. Customer Rating: Summary: Quality construction Comment: "Built like a tank", of chrome-plated steel and heavy-guage polycarbonate (which has the look and feel of glass). There's nothing quite like the herbal aroma and flavor of fresh-ground pepper, and this unit makes it easy to enjoy. The handle provides plenty of leverage for grinding the peppercorns with a minimum of physical effort. The only minor disadvantage is that, as this is a fairly compact unit, it is tricky to refill via the rather restricted opening at the top, and you should consider purchasing a funnel along with the peppermill. More Reviews Why settle for stale, pre-ground pepper when fresh-ground pepper on all your entrees will make a difference? Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking. Choosing Appliance -> Grater In our opinion, the old fashioned box graters work the best since they are sturdy and offer several different grating sizes. William Bounds Key Mill "WB-1" Pepper Mill Useful info -> What is a Springform Pan Traditionally, a springform pan has been defined as a round pan, that with the aid of a clamp, has removable sides and bottom. Generally used for cheesecakes, these pans allow cakes or tortes to be easily extricated from the pan. |
