Customer Reviews of Maverick ET-62 Digital Chef's Fork
Customer Rating: Summary: Works well, but... Comment: We bought this thermo-fork mainly for barbequing. Who wants to cut into their meat a few times to see if it's done? Well, this fork makes it easy to tell graphically if your meat, fish, pork, or fowl are rare, medium rare, medium, medium-well, or well-done, plus the actual temperature is given. We've had pretty good results with chicken, but hamburgers tend to fall apart when pronged on the grill. Two gripes, though. First, the display is awkward to read (upside-down) when you're pushing the fork into the meat. Second, the handle is not at all water tight. So, when you wash the fork and splash water on the handle (inevitable...) water seeps in and gets the display wet and fogged. Moreover, water can remain trapped between the display and the "conductive sponge strip" that connects the display to the circuit board. Result: display fades or disappears. Not too bad to fix (open it up and dry off all contacts carefully,) but not robust. If I had to buy another, I'd consider the straight thermometers without the fork part. More Reviews Guessing is not a recommended method of checking for doneness. At best you could end up with meat that bears an unfortunate resemblance to shoe leather, at worst you and your guests could end up with a nasty bout of e coli. In just five seconds you can check for a safe internal temperature, simply set the desired temperature, insert the RediFork into your meat and it will beep when the programmed temperature is reached. A little light lets you visually monitor progress, even when it's dark outside. Choosing Appliance -> Taps Dual-flow mixers provide independent hot, cold or mixed water after leaving the end of the spout. They can be deck-mounted on the sink or pillar/bridge-mounted for a more traditional look. Alternatively, choose a monobloc tap, which is a single-hole fitting that usually has two handles for hot and cold water supply. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Maverick ET-62 Digital Chef's Fork Useful info -> How should I decorate my kitchen? What will you choose, paint or wallpaper? Modern emulsion paints are very easy to apply using rollers, brushes or pads. Two coats of a good quality silk finish are recommended for durable cover. If your kitchen front is plain you can liven up the room by choosing patterned wallpaper. A light colour will make your room appear larger. Because kitchens are working rooms where moisture, grease and dust collect choose a wipe clean surface such smooth vinyl. Avoid embossed papers as they accumulate dirt, are hard to clean and easily graze. |
