Customer Reviews of Innova 42010 Stainless-Steel 10-Quart Pressure Cooker with Steamer Insert and Bonus Lid

Summary: Very reliable product
Comment: I have had mine for about 13 years and use it probably twice a week. I am just now replacing the sealing ring for the first time - my own fault, as I melted it accidentally - would probably last forever otherwise. I have found this to be the sturdiest and most reliable of my pressure cookers (others are Fagor); I prefer a jiggle-top for accuracy. Incidentally, mine was made in Korea. It's possible that the quality of the product declined over the years, but it was top of the line when I initially acquired it.

Summary: Professional Quality
Comment: I've had mine for about 13 years. I was so surprised on the negative write ups. My experience has been positive. It's very well made, it easy to use, and it cleans quickly. I love my pressure cooker. I've never had trouble with it. I always considered it my best cookware. The reason I was on the web was to purchase another one.

Summary: This line of products is potentially dangerous.
Comment: There have been many complaints and injuries caused by products made by this company, also knowns as "ultrex" by Innova, including second and third degree burns. They are now out of business, so if something goes wrong, you are probably out of luck. There have been a few official recalls, but they only called back one pressure cooker with a different model number. The lids blew, just like the other reviewer stated, only his particular model wasn't recalled. HSN sold thousands of them. Some pans were also recalled, because the coating separated and flew off in people's faces, burning them with hot grease. I WOULD NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS LINE, USED OR NEW!! MADE IN CHINA AND TOO DANGEROUS!!!

Summary: i wouldn't have any other brand or size
Comment: this thing is beautiful stainless steel. i got it for only about 76.00 back in 2004 and have not been sorry once. it is heavy and although i wanted the 8 quart one at the time but this one was cheaper after the 25.00 off, i think it is just the right size.

after the dog food scare recently, today i decided to cook up 10 pounds of leg quarters for my dogs and the whole 10 pound bag fit it perfectly....and the dogs were very happy with this purchase! the chicken cooked up without heating up the kitchen and the meat just fell off of the bones....isn't that what a pressure cooker is supposed to do anyway?

everything i have purchased from amazon has been some of the best buys and best products i have ever purchased. the service as very fast and even when i ordered some kitcheaid spatulas at christmas and they were on back order until after the first of the year, i still got them before christmas!! i recommend amazon to everyone but always say to do the research first to get the best price and free shipping.

Summary: Pressure cooker saves time NOT DANGEROUS
Comment: I'm going to write the same review for a couple pots I bought for my wife. They are replacing some scratched, rusting (ugh what a thought)loose handles, etc... very old!
I researched and found Innova to be the best and that's what you buy for a gift... you don't want to appear to be cheap. Drinking wine is like a truth serum, but be careful, too much truth can get you into trouble. What follows is for an Innova Pressure cooker. I remember my grandmother and mother cooking with these, so I decided to buy one for my wife (actually for me because I like to cook but want recipes that don't take too long). That's where this pressure cooker reigns supreme. I can't say if it's the best or not because I have only had one, but I do remember that the price was right and for a quality product BUY IT! I need another glass of wine so I'll be back in a few minutes.

Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens
Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans.
Choosing Appliance -> Taps
If you want a sink with large bowl dimensions to cope with big-pan washing-up, it is worth considering a tap with a pull-out or pull-down spray rinse. This gives you water anywhere you need it around the bowl area.

Kitchen tips -> Remove fat from soup
To remove fat from soup or stock, use one of these techniques:
  • Remove fat from soups by allowing a lettuce leaf to float on top of the soup. The lettuce will attract the fat and then the fat and lettuce leaf can be removed.
  • Add ice cubes to the soup, stir to allow fat to collect on the ice cubes, and then remove before they have melted.
  • Crumple up a piece of plastic wrap and skim the surface of the soup with it. The plastic wrap will attract fat from the surface.
  • Allow the soup to cool, place it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours and when it is removed, the fat will have solidified on top and can then be easily scraped off.
