Customer Reviews of Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug
Customer Rating: Summary: So so. Comment: Hot water is running fast. Makes ground coffee tasteless. I use starbucks ground coffee. With this coffee maker, I need more ground coffee to make same amount of coffee. Customer Rating: Summary: Very handy! Comment: I bought this for my husband, who fixes coffee for his one hour commute to work. This coffee maker is great, BECAUSE, you don't have to use the pods of coffee; you grind and use your own coffee. The unit works great, and it's so handy to have! I don't drink coffee, so there's no need for a whole pot every morning. Besides, he leaves the house REALLY early! I believe you will like this product...we had the Senseo a while back, and he hated it. We ended up returning it to the store. Try this one! Customer Rating: Summary: If I had only known about this thing sooner Comment: First, I must start off by saying that I absolutely love this thing. It produces a hot cup of coffee in just a couple of minutes. I drink one cup of coffee a day at work so this is the first thing I use when I get to the office in the morning. After I'm done making my coffee, I unplug it and store it in my overhead bin and nobody even knows it's there (I don't know if it's against policy to have something like this where I work, so rather than raise suspicions, out of sight-out of mind). Onto my experiences with the brew n' go. 5/5: The end result: THE COFFEE! This thing makes a great cup of coffee. So far I've used a medium grind on the coffee beans and I can't think of anything bad to say about the flavor. I get a great cup of coffee every time! 4/5 Stars: The Built In Filter First, I don't even use the built in filter any more. The main reason I wanted this coffee maker is because I wanted a quick cup of coffee with the least amount of cleanup as possible. Using the built in filter worked great the first couple of times, but there's no sink near my desk. So I would have to carry a dirty plastic filter halfway across my building to clean it out. If you intend to use the provided filter, it does work great. However, you will notice a bit of oil from the coffee beans floating on top of your coffee after it's brewed. If this isn't your thing, you may want to consider what I do. As I said, I don't use the built in filter. I've purchased very small filters from Publix that are a little too big (around) but pushing them in there has worked fine for me so far. This works out great. There are two advantages for me: 1. After the coffee is done brewing, I can just pull that filter out and throw it in the garbage, and then I can wipe out the coffee maker with a paper towel. Quick and easy. 2. You won't see near as much of that oil floating on top of your coffee in your cup if you use a paper filter. 5/5 Stars: Cleanup What can I say here other than the fact that this thing is a breeze to clean. Whether you use the built in filter or buy small filters from your gorcery store, you'll find that this thing is about as painless as can be when it comes to cleanup. Final Thoughts: I hope by this point you can tell that I love this thing. There are a couple of things I would like to point out. - It's not the quietest coffee maker I've ever heard, but it doesn't stay on all that long either - I've heard that if you try to put too much coffee into the filter, it may overflow and you'll have a big mess on your hands - so people who like super strong coffee, this may not be your thing (unless you can find the perfectly strong coffee grind that two tablespoons will work) I absolutely love this thing. I get a good cup of coffee every morning that takes minimal time to make, and the cleanup is a breeze. Customer Rating: Summary: makes a water mess Comment: Yes, it is the right size, and yes it looks nice on my counter-top (I got it to replace a white stained one that we had), but boy, my husband can not keep from splashing water all over my counter. I was hoping he would adapt to it, but he has not, and everyday I wake up to wet mess. The older version was much easier to fill without splashing over. It needs a re-design! Customer Rating: Summary: Coffee maker Comment: This coffee maker is great! It is super fast and perfect for anyone who only needs just one cup at a time. More Reviews Wouldn't this make a great gift for a student, or a commuter? The machine brews right into the thermal travel mug and then shuts itself off, so your favorite coffee lover can simply grab and go! Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Ease of cleaning is well worth considering at the outset. Stay clean liners resist dirt build-up but pyrolitic cleaning is the ultimate. It burns off all baked-on debris at 500°C so that all you have to do is sweep out the resulting ash. Look out for ovens with a steam cleaning facility, too, and remember that some ovens have removable inner doors that are easy to clean. Choosing Appliance -> Mixer Pretty much the same thoughts as the food processor. High quality mixers are great for making bread or other tough jobs. Every kitchen should have one. Be sure that any mixer has all three attachments: paddle, dough hook, and whip. Also, find a spot on the counter where it can be easily accessed at a moment's notice. Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Cleaning & Maintenance Oven Never use a scouring pad of any sort to remove stubborn stains or soiled areas, since these pads scratch the finish and any future soiled areas won't clean up as well, especially with the self-cleaning models. When the oven is cool to the touch, place a cloth or sponge, dampened with warm to hot tap water, onto the soiled area and allow it to sit, for about ten minutes or so, to help loosen the soil. |
