Summary: OK for general household use.
Comment: This is a good general home use slicer but don't get this one confused with a professional model. If you plan on a lot of slicing go professional instead but if you just slice an occasional ham, or beef, pork or chicken roast, then this product will do the job.

Summary: Haven't even used it yet
Comment: I haven't even used my machine yet, but I was disappointed to see the serrated blade when the product description here indicates a "smooth blade," which is what I was looking for. Maybe it will still work for what I want to use it for, but it's disappointing to not get what you think is coming. I also don't like reading that it's meant for less than 10 minute intervals.

Summary: Great Value
Comment: This is a upscale home owner unit. Slices London broil for Jerky, 5 or 6 lbs at a crack. Does a great job on 3 or 4 lb. Pit Beef. Would give it 5 Stars if it had a blade sharpner, they say it doesnt need one. We will see. G.C.

Summary: good machine but not a pro
Comment: I purchased about two months ago used it several times and liked the way it functions for a home unit. Used for uncooked beef for steak sandwiches, a real money saver. For veggies like tomatoes another money saver. Comes with a cerated blade that limits the thickness of cuts. Can't find non cerated blade for paper thin beef. The warning that the motor can overheat in a relatively short time has me concerned (five minutes). Had a previous german cutter that was a pain to use slid around and mangled food. This model stays put, it is heavy. Its all steel and looks nice, keep it out for instant use. Fairly easy to clean up, blade removes easily. Thickness control a little stiff but it stays where you put it. Love the stay on feature, gives you two hands to work with, one to push the food the other to stack neatly. It is a good value compared to what in the same price range is on the market. I give it four out of five stars. One con though the food carriage does not disconnect to adequately sanitize plastic they should improve that. It can be done just a little more work.

Summary: satisfied
Comment: I found this product to be of good quality and realaively simple to operate and clean. The carrige lifts to expose running surfaces for quick cleanup and all parts seem to be made of high quality, durable materials. However, the blade comes with a big sticker that must be removed with a strong solvent. Not to be mistaken for a commercial machine - but for the home it is more than sufficient.

Choosing Appliance -> Ladles
Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes.
Choosing Appliance -> Dishwasher
Choose a dishwasher with sturdy compression springs in the door. Also look for tough, lightweight nylon or graphite racks with cushioned tips that protect glassware and cookware. Weimer recommends choosing a model with a rack design that provides the largest, most flexible interior space and is configured for your belongings, including odd-shaped pieces.

Kitchen tips -> Potatoes salad
When cooking potatoes to use in potato salad, add a little vinegar to the water when boiling the potatoes. The vinegar causes the potatoes to form a thin crust, which helps them hold their shape
