Customer Reviews of Farberware Classic Yosemite Stainless Steel Percolator
Customer Rating: Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5
Summary: Great percolator for the price
Comment: This is a good value for the price. It is large, of good quality and it makes good coffee. It does take awhile to heat the water (maybe this is just my stove but I don't think so) so brewing a pot often takes me 10 minutes or so but I just turn it on and continue with what I'm doing. It is lightweight, looks nice on the stove and can make a large quantity of coffee. I think next time I'll get an electric one but this works great for me

Summary: What a nice coffee smell!
Comment: This is my first time to try the classical coffee percolator. The reason I bought this old fashioned item is I don't want to use the paper filter any more for environment. This percolater is very easy to use. Also, every morning my little apartment use to fill with nice coffee smell!

Summary: Stovetop Percolator Makes a Good Old Cup of Coffee
Comment: This stainless percolator is nicely finished and well designed. It is easy to clean and perks a cup of coffee like that rich black brew my parents made. The stainless steel is less fragile than the aluminum models, does not require "seasoning" as they did, does not contaminate the coffee, and can be thoroughly cleaned without losing the "seasoning."

Faberware could work on quality control a bit. The one I got has an ever-so-slightly crooked plastic dome, and I was mildly alarmed when washing it out for the second time, I found a quantity of "goop" under the top rim of the pot. I believe the substance to be the polishing compound typically used in mirror finishing. Though I have suffered no ill effects, this stuff should have been removed at the factory. If you buy one, scrub it out completely before use.

Overall, for old duffers like me, who want to again enjoy that familiar brewed flavor, this is a great coffee pot. It is fairly priced and I recommend it. And who knows, maybe we can show some of those who've never had REAL coffee why we aren't that impressed with Starbucks!

Summary: Smell the Aroma...
Comment: This is DEFINITELY what I was looking for and for a great price! Looked everywhere... all the major Dept. Stores... and of course, I wound up at Amazon who always seems to have what I'm looking for! If you want the taste and smell of coffee that way it used to be (or like walking into Starbucks) this is the one to get. There are more expensive ones, but this does the same job and the quality is just as good. Very satisfied... my electric maker is sitting on the side, hoping to be used again. Great product for an equally great price that you can't beat!

Customer Rating: Rating: 1/5Rating: 1/5Rating: 1/5Rating: 1/5Rating: 1/5
Summary: Unusable out of the box
Comment: For some reason, the handle was wrapped separately from the pot. There's a screw in the handle, but no hole in the pot for a screw so I can actually attach it. Am I supposed to drill a hole and hope the screw is long enough? Don't think so -- this item will be returned tomorrow.

More Reviews If you grew up in the 1940's and 1950's, it's more likely you saw a coffee percolator like this one on your parents' stovetop. The origins of the percolator go back to about 1818 in France. Prior to that, coffee was made in vacuum pots or was boiled. By the middle to late 1800's travelers immigrating to the United States from Europe brought these percolators with them. Many of these pots made coffee for families that used wood stoves on their journey westward. This Farberware model follows that classic design but is made of stainless steel. It's easy to use, clean, and maintain. You can expect years of quality service from this coffee maker. Farberware has added a stay-cool handle to help make pouring a lot easier. It truly is a classic refined.

Choosing Appliance -> Taps
If you want a sink with large bowl dimensions to cope with big-pan washing-up, it is worth considering a tap with a pull-out or pull-down spray rinse. This gives you water anywhere you need it around the bowl area.
Choosing Appliance -> Range Cookers
The way you cook is also key to deciding which type of range cooker to choose. No-frills heat storage ranges such as Agas retain heat they have gradually built up and generally have two ovens without temperature controls - the hot oven is for roasting and baking, the cool one for slow cooking/keeping warm.

Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Maintain Electrical Safely
The insulation on electrical cords can become damaged by wear, flexing, or age. Do not use any cord that is stiff or cracked. Some clues that you may have an electrical problem are:
  • Flickering lights. If the lights dim every time you turn on an appliance that circuit is overloaded or has a loose connection.
  • Sparks. If sparks appear when you insert or remove a plug, they could be a sign of loose connections.
  • Warm electrical cord. If an electrical cord is warm to the touch, the cord is underrated or defective.
  • Frequent blown fuses or broken circuits. A fuse or circuit breaker that keeps tripping is an important warning sign of problems.
  • Frequent bulb burnout. A light bulb that burns out frequently is a sign that the bulb is too high a wattage for the fixture.
