Customer Reviews of Oregon Scientific Cable Free Remote Sensor with Multi-Channels THR138 - 1 ea

Summary: New Sensors are just a way to make money
Comment: I'm sorry but that's just completely unacceptable. I can understand old units not talking to new sensors but there is NO excuse for new units not talking to old sensors. That's just orgeon scientific trying to make us buy new sensors. That'll do it for me - I have two units that I've been very happy with and was going to add one of those fancy weather stations - until I read that NONE of my sensors will work with it. No way. Just lost a customer.

Summary: Can't live without it
Comment: I love being able to see the temperature outside when I wake up every morning!

Customer Rating: Rating: 2/5Rating: 2/5Rating: 2/5Rating: 2/5Rating: 2/5
Summary: Range is terrible
Comment: I'm returning this product. Beware of the 90 ft range claim. I put the outdoor unit in a window between the glass and the screen and about 25 feet away from the indoor unit, one room away. There's one interior brick wall with an open door in between the two units. The indoor unit is unable to pick up the signal from the outdoor unit. This is simply a poorly perfroming product as I had another brand of indoor/outdoor thermometer set up identically and there was no such problem. I give it 2 stars only because I like the large digital readout.

Summary: It works well
Comment: I bought this sensor to replace the original that was lost. It works well, the indications of temperature and humidity are the same (within one degree and 3% respectively) as the indications of the base station when they are in close proximity. I have mounted the sensor underneath my RV and the base station receives the signal anywhere in the RV.

Choosing Appliance -> Sinks
Consider which accessories might be beneficial. Many models can be supplied with a draining basket, chopping board and strainer bowls. A drainer extension can be useful for sinks without a drainer where worktop space is limited in a small kitchen.
Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans
This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking.

Useful info ->
Is the top or bottom element going to perform the self-cleaning cycle? Some ovens only use the top element and others only use the bottom one. Better designed ovens use the bottom element. The reason for this is that most grease spills and splatters (soil) will accumulate on the sides and the floor of the cavity - not on the ceiling (where the broiler is located) and therefore, the element that is the closest to these soiled areas should be the one to work the strongest in order to bake off the soil.
