Customer Reviews of Hoover U5256-900 Widepath Vacuum Cleaner
Customer Rating: Summary: Not Happy Comment: At first this vacuum seemed like a good deal if you can handle the noise. I've had this for 4 months now and the filters are a real pain to clean. Now the dirt is blowing out of the bottom and the filters are clean. It is going back. Customer Rating: Summary: Hoover Widepath review Comment: This vacuum cleaner picks up everything! I have a yellow lab that sheds and after I've vacuumed you would never know I had a dog. The only problems I have with it are that it is LOUD. Hope you don't have any sleeping babies. And the onboard cleaning tools dont always stay onboard (minor detail, I know). But all in all, it's a good vacuum cleaner! Customer Rating: Summary: Not really what I expected. Comment: I had owned a bagless fantom vac until it died after less than a year so I guess I am comparing this vac to the fantom (when it was new). I went to a bag vac because the bad fantom experience had me scared. I was suprised at how cheap this vac feels. It seems to be about 95% plastic (these days what isn't?) so I hope it holds up. Assembly was easy. Seems to have good sucking power through the beater brush but the brush continues to rotate when using the hose wand. It will make it hard to vac out my car outside. Hose wand doesn't seem to have as much power as it could. The vac is very loud. If I had it to do over again I would at least go to a store that carries the model or similar models so I could have gotten a feel for the vac and its features before I bought. I mainly bought the vac on reviews at this site, which were helpful but it's still good to get some hands on experience before you buy. If I had done that I may have decided to spend a little extra for something more heavy duty. Customer Rating: Summary: Best Vacuum for the Money Comment: I've been looking for a decent, affordable vacuum cleaner for months. I detest the "bagless" styles (do I really need to see dog hair and Barbie shoes whirling around in a twister of dirt?) I purchased this vacuum based on the positive reviews at this site and the fact that I've found Hoover vacuums to be durable and reliable. I've used this vacuum for about a month now and I'm very very happy with it. It is powerful and the cleaning tools are conveniently located on the machine. I like the 15" widepath...speeds up the chore. I have some nit pick complaints: It's a little heavy to carry up and down the stairs. It's very loud, but I don't have any babies to worry about waking up, so I don't care. The hose/tubing occaisonally pops off it's holder, but not too often. Over all a very good value!... Customer Rating: Summary: Really sucks (good in a vacuum) and edge cleaner really does Comment: I just bought the floor model...(discounted because the new model is coming out)... I tested it thoroughly...they have never seen it so clean (tile floors, carpet and shelves). It does not have to be over the dirt to pick it up, it draws dirt to it on hard floors. The front edge has excellent pickup on carpets, almost to the wall or other object. Most vacuums have about a 1/2 inch area in front that they don't pick up, but this one gets it, and what it can't reach it sucks to itself. Wonderful edge cleaning has little rubber teeth that really get the stuff from the edge, and if it cant reach it, it sucks it up. Hoover does not call this a self-propelled on their web site, but it pratically pulls itself, you just have to point it in the right direction and it goes by itself. It is pretty lite weight (my guess is about 14lb) and the stair carrying handhold saves stress on wrist, in that you dont have to pick up the entire weight of the vacuum by the top handle - you can distribute the weight by also using the handle at the bottom of the filter area. The onboard tools are accessable but dont fall out as there is a cover that is easy to open when they are needed. More Reviews With an extra-wide, 15-inch path and a headlight, this full-size, 1440-watt upright vacuum makes quick work of a carpet or floor and provides illumination to see when a swath has been cleaned. A toe-slide on the front adjusts for bare floors and three carpet heights, and three onboard tools--dusting brush, upholstery nozzle, crevice tool--attach to a stretch hose for cleaning furniture and drapes. For removing allergens, the machine comes with a disposable allergen filter conveniently located on the front that removes 100 percent of dust mites and 99.98 percent of grass and common pollens. It also uses a disposable allergen-filtration bag (Hoover Type Z, included). A 24-foot power cord provides plenty of reach. The machine carries a 1-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack Choosing Appliance -> Spoons Buy stainless spoons (both slotted and non-slotted) which are solid and won't bend no matter how tough the job. Also, buy several high quality wooden spoons for stirring delicate dishes like risotto (the sharp edge of a metal spoon would cut or bruise the rice). Choosing Appliance -> Energy-Efficient Refrigerators The EnergyGuide label on new refrigerators will tell you how much electricity in kilowatt-hours (kWh) a particular model uses in one year. The smaller the number, the less energy the refrigerator uses and the less it will cost you to operate. In addition to the EnergyGuide label, don't forget to look for the Energy Star label. A new refrigerator with an Energy Star label will save you between $35 and $70 a year compared to the models designed 15 years ago. This adds up to between $525 and $1,050 during the average 15-year life of the unit. Hoover U5256-900 Widepath Vacuum Cleaner Useful info -> Tips If you plan to install a dishwasher, place it close to the sink. Where you choose to put it might depend on whether you're right- or left-handed and on the path dishes are likely to take when cleared from the table. Also consider the choreography of two people loading and unloading the machine |
