Customer Reviews of Peugeot Nancy 7-Inch Acrylic Pepper Mill
Customer Rating: Summary: Slippery When Wet Comment: Grinds well, but top gets slippery and hard to turn when your hands are wet or greasy. Customer Rating: Summary: Does what it should! Comment: I saw these in a variety of stores but found it online here and got it for a 1/3 of the price and it works well as I prefer to ground my own salt and peppers with my many hours of home cooking. Customer Rating: Summary: Average Comment: I'm not thrilled, but I'm not unhappy either. It seems to be working fairly well, and doesn't do a bad job grinding. I prefer the grinders with the settings for grind level, so I probably won't buy this type again. Customer Rating: Summary: Engineering perfection Comment: Maybe the previous reviewer (et415) had a defective unit, or something other than pepper to grind, but it is not physically possible that "the 'screw' [it's actually a nut] that controls grind fineness becomes loosened as you grind." The lid that you grasp and turn to grind the peppercorns fits tightly over a flattened part of the drive spindle, firmly locking it in place. The nut screws onto the threaded part of the spindle that sticks through the lid. The more you tighten the nut, the higher it lifts the spindle and the inner part of the grinding mechanism at the bottom of the spindle, resulting in a coarser grind. The nut, the lid and the spindle move as one since the lid is firmly locked onto the flattened part of the spindle. The nut cannot become loose as you turn the lid. The nut just sits there. If there is a better-engineered pepper mill out there, I'd like to know about it. Customer Rating: Summary: It's OK Comment: The screw that controls grind fineness becomes loosened as you grind, so you constantly have to adjust it as you grind. Grind volume is OK, but not great. I bought it because it was cheap and it's clear so you can see how much peppercorn you have left. But there are probably better grinders out there. More Reviews Peugeot PM03579 Nancy pepper mill, acrylic. Bring a sparkle and elegance to your table setting with this fine acrylic pepper mill. Peugeot mill mechanisms are recognized worldwide for their durability and ease of use, and carry a lifetime warranty. The clear acrylic surface allows you to see when it's time to refill. Featuring a grinding mechanism that is specifically designed to grind whole peppercorns, and with the adjustable knob on top you can choose your grind from fine to coarse. Comes partially filled with peppercorns. Matching salt mill sold separately. Size: 18cm / 7". Choosing Appliance -> Dishwashers Look for models with adjustable baskets and flexible internal layouts for varying load requirements. For example, a tilting upper basket allows large 30cm diameter plates in the lower basket and extra flaps can be raised or lowered to cater for small items or large pans. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Peugeot Nancy 7-Inch Acrylic Pepper Mill Kitchen tips -> Slicing When you want to slice foods, such as: onions, celery stalks, potatoes, carrots, etc., hold the items together with one hand and pivot the knife at it's tip and hold the blade at a 95' towards the hand holding the items, always keeping the tip of the knife in contact with the cutting surface |
