I love this old machine for its consistent brew, but the glass carafes do break over time. Customer Rating: Summary: Great but DO NOT THROW OUT the old lid just yet! Comment: Great item! I was thrilled to find a replacement for my older model of Krups(at least 15 years OLD). The height and the shape of the carafe are identical to the ld one, but the new lid does not work very well. In order for coffee to drip, I had to insert the carafe sideways as the new lid has a carved-out front and does not depress the drip latch. So DO NOT THROW OUT YOUR OLD LID!!!! I put my old lid on, it snapped right in and the coffee maker is still in business! Very, very pleased with the results! Customer Rating: Summary: Shattered carafe Comment: This is the second time I have had this carafe; my husband was going to pour just brewed coffee from this carafe and it shattered just by removing it fromt the coffeemaker. This is the second time that this has happened to us, however this time hot coffee went everywhere. I would not purchase this carafe or any other coffeemaker from Krups that uses a glass carafe as they are obviously not concerned with consumer safety.
