Customer Rating:   Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS BLENDER! Comment: I bought this blender because i wanted a powerful blender, but did not want to invest $600 in a Vitamix. I had read product reviews praising this blender. I should have listened to the one review that said not to purchase it, because the motor blew just outside the warranty period.. Just outside my warranty period the lid assembly had to be replaced. Now, within 2 years of purchase the entire canister and blade assembly has to be replaced at a cost of $36.00, which i refuse to pay. The gears or bearings under the blade assembly disintegrated. This blender was very inconvenient to use. The lid assembly leaked while blending and the rubber gasket around the lid had to be removed each time to be cleaned and realigned back on...a real pain. Also, the blender is extremely loud. Earplugs anyone? The Oster blender i had previously to this one lasted over 10 years. Juiceman products are manufactured in "Phibber Magee's Land of Crapola". DO NOT BUY THIS BLENDER. Customer Rating: Summary: Low quality, non-sealed bearing fails again Comment: This blender gave me 14 months of good service before the bearing in the jar assembly failed. This seems to be the experience of many others based on these reviews. When I called Salton, they quoted me $35 for a new jar assembly plus $10 shipping. Not worth it since they apparently haven't rectified the problem. Have purchased the Kitchenaid KSB560, with the hope that it will be as durable as the last Kitchenaid blender I had (which I gave away in excellent condition after 9 years to purchase the more powerful Juiceman). Customer Rating: Summary: A Waste of Money Comment: I had this blender for less than a month & used it 3 times. The first 2 times I made smoothies, which came out fine. The third time I was making Margaritas. The blender stopped half way through & has not worked since. I have been had. Customer Rating: Summary: Jar assembly replacement Comment: I have had a second instance of a bearing failure in the bottom of the jar/blade assembly of my Juiceman smoothie maker. The first time was covered by warranty, but this time I am beyond the warranty period. I had a hard time figuing out whom to contact, so I thought others might like the URL, http://www.esalton.com/control/contactus (I don't think the company had any connection with Salton when I bought the thing.) Anyway, I was pretty disappointed with the durability of the product because I only use it once a day for making a smoothie, and the advertising when I bought it touted it as being suitable for commercial use. Using it less than a minute a day, I didn't expect to ever wear it out. The good news, though, is that they say they will send me a new jar/blade for $10, with free shipping. Otherwise I have been reasonably happy with it. The jar is plastic and gets scratches (but I'm getting a new jar anyway). The seal on the top is sort of a pain to clean. The plastic film over the control buttons is bubbling a bit and doesn't look great, although it doesn't affect performance. The Juiceman does do a great job of producing a smooth smoothie, without any ice chunks. And the few times I have used it to make blender drinks it has performed remarkably well. I think most people would judge that some of the other brands are much better looking, which is worth something in an appliance that's likely to stay on your countertop. Customer Rating: Summary: It doesn't last Comment: This blender has great features and when you first buy it you'll think it's a super product. Unfortunately it doesn't hold up and getting replacement parts is a nightmare. In less than a year I've had to replace the blender container twice because the bearing wears out. This time I've been waiting for over 1 month for the backordered replacement to arrive and the factory says it could still be 4-5 more weeks! What good is the blender when it's grinding it's bearing parts into my smoothie???
