Customer Rating:   Summary: Don't buy a Maverick Ice Cream Maker Comment: If you need to replace a part you will have no place to do so. I bought a Maverick a couple of years ago from HSN. The lid split after I'd had it a few months but I was outside of HSNs coverage period for a replacement. I tried to contact Maverick for a replacement but never heard back from them. Presently I have the lid taped but it is getting so bad I won't be able to use it much longer. I contacted HSN for a contact number for Maverick and they have none. Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent product for the price Comment: This machine exceeded my expectations! Turns out delicious soft serve in LESS than 30 minutes (on a hot day in Hawaii!). Easy to set up, quiet operation, nice collection of recipes to get you started. Very pleased with product and price. If you choose the hard setting plan on butting the finished product into your regular freezer to finish it up. Put a fun machine all the same and a great thing to do with the kids. More Reviews Creating 1 quart of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, or frozen drinks at home takes only about 30 minutes with this electric ice-cream maker, and salt and ice are not needed. It has two speeds for creating hard or soft variations of any confection. The machine's freezer bowl goes into a refrigerator's freezer for about 12 hours to freeze the liquid between its walls. The bowl then goes atop the power base, the unit's paddle goes into the bowl, the transparent top is locked in place, and the machine is turned on. Ingredients go into the bowl through an opening in the top as the paddle turns. Chocolate chips, chopped fruit, nuts, and other ingredients can be added toward the end. The bowl is nonstick for easy cleanup. The machine measures 8-1/2 inches in diameter and 11-1/4 inches high. It carries a 90-day warranty against defects. Kitchen tips -> Slicing When you want to slice foods, such as: onions, celery stalks, potatoes, carrots, etc., hold the items together with one hand and pivot the knife at it's tip and hold the blade at a 95' towards the hand holding the items, always keeping the tip of the knife in contact with the cutting surface |
