Customer Rating:  Summary: Makes short work of drying produce Comment: I was torn between the SoftWorks and the Zyliss, but picked this one because I was afraid of possible problems with the pull string on the Zyliss. This spinner is very simple to use -- you just pop up the black "pumper" and push it down several times, then use the little "brake" button to slow it down quickly. My salad greens get dried off very well. (By the way, I read that to get that last bit of water, you can throw a paper towel in the spinner with your greens to absorb any excess, which is a great tip.) Customer Rating: Summary: Works well and doubles as a serving bowl Comment: I recently purchased this salad spinner, have used it a few times and am very happy with it. It's easy to use, interior spinning unit doubles as a colander and exterior bowl is elegant enough to serve your salad in. Have washed it on the top rack of my dish washer with no problems. It's amazing how much water you can get off of the vegies you put in there. Customer Rating:  Summary: Works great. Use it every time I make a salad. Comment: With the salad spinner, I find making salads are easier and faster. I usually like to start making a salad several hours in advance, so that I can make sure the leaves are completely dry. I don't like wet leaves in my salad. The dressings does not sitck as well to the leaves and I have to use more dressing to a get a good flavor. While this doens't make them totally dry, it is the best solution thus far for me. Now I don't have to dry each leaf individually or wait several hours while the leaves drain and chill. Choosing Appliance -> Taps If you want a sink with large bowl dimensions to cope with big-pan washing-up, it is worth considering a tap with a pull-out or pull-down spray rinse. This gives you water anywhere you need it around the bowl area. Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. Useful info -> Water Filters Very few people buying a new kitchen do so today without the offer of a water filter system as part of the deal. Water filters are taking by storm as the man and woman in the street discover that they can have the luxury of pure, clean tasting water in their kitchens for far less than the cost of a pint of milk a day! The water filter systems knock the costs associated with bottled water for six. Especially when you have virtually unlimited quantities of the stuff, pouring from a tap in your kitchen! |
