Customer Reviews of Chef's Choice 685 International Deluxe Cordless Electric Teakettle
Customer Rating: Summary: waste of money Comment: I bought this item 2 months ago when I moved to the USA, I was surprised to see that most people here use a hob top kettle which doesnt switch off automatically. I wanted what I was used to & because this would be 'on show' in my open plan home it had to look stylish. So I thought the price might reflect that & discounted the cheaper versions. What a fool! DAY 1, the second time I used it the outside part of the handle came off. I had thrown the box out already so decided to persever without the outer casing. Within a month the automatic switch off is cutting in well before the water is boiled. It makes big cracking sounds when boiling & is really loud throughout the long boiling time. I need to stand over it just as I would with a hob top. Useless. Waste of money. Customer Rating: Summary: Good but there are better choices Comment: We ordererd the Chefs Choice 685 because of its looks and reviews, but returned it due to three reasons (a) very flashy silver color, we prefer a matte look (b) cover does not fit smoothly, especially when pulling out and spills water on the kettle surface when removed (c) very light and not rugged. Apparently one of the earlier comments might be true that Chinese made models are not as well made as German made. We ended up buying the Breville Customer Rating: Summary: Look mom, no plastic! Comment: Are you looking for an electric kettle that's plastic free on the inside? If so, this kettle may be for you. The boiling water does not come into contact with any plastic pieces. There is a plastic water level marker inside the kettle (indicating the highest you should fill the kettle), but the water sits below it. So no worries! The top sits snugly and needs a good tug to remove, but it boils quickly and works well. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Kettle!! Comment: This kettle works great. It heats the water very quickly. I especially like the automatic shut-off feature. I have read other reviews about other kettles that develop funny smells and such but this kettle does not do that. The only thing I have noticed is there is some noise coming out of the kettle as the water boils but that really doesn't bother me. It's probably just the water boiling. I would recommend this kettle! Customer Rating: Summary: One of the best Comment: This kettle was a replacement for a now retired Bodum product, and it has lived up to it's name! It's a really great kettle, heating fast and keeping water hot for a little bit longer than the others in the field. Although it is a little pricey, it's also well worth the money because it's got sturdy construction and a nice design. Recommended for dorm rooms and other places that require automatic shut-off. More Reviews This cordless Electric Teakettle is both handy and attractive. To use, simply fill with water and place on the heating base. Plug base into outlet and turn on the switch; in just minutes, you'll have boiling water for your tea. To make pouring easier, the pot lifts completely off the base and can be carried to your dining room or living room as a convenient and attractive serving piece. The teakettle's heating element is located in the base and never comes in direct contact with the water, preventing mineral deposit build up. The dimensions of the teakettle are 9.5"W x 7.75"D x 8"H. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Dryer When shopping for a new clothes dryer, look for one with a moisture sensor that automatically shuts off the machine when your clothes are dry. Not only will this save energy, it will save wear and tear on your clothes caused by over-drying. Keep in mind that gas dryers are less expensive to operate than electric dryers. The cost of drying a typical load of laundry in an electric dryer is 30 to 40 cents compared to 15 to 25 cents in a gas dryer. Choosing Appliance -> Hobs If you enjoy eastern cuisine, you can buy a speciality hob with a wok burner. Similarly if you are a BBQ fan, choose a BBQ grill. If you are left handed, go for front rather than right hand side controls as this eliminates the risk of reaching across the heat. If you cook for a large family, more than four rings may be useful, and if you have young children it may be worth considering paying a little extra for a hob guard or in the case of gas, choosing an automatic re-ignition or cut off device should the flame blow out. Chef's Choice 685 International Deluxe Cordless Electric Teakettle Useful info -> Grill Grilling is a pervasive tradition in the United States. There are many cook-offs for steak grilling and good 'ole fashion barbecue (mid-western and southern style) around the United States with serious cash prizes involved in most. Almost all competition grillers use charcoal, most often in large, custom designed brick or steel grills. They can range from a few 55 gallon oil drums sawed lengthwise on their sides to make a lid and grill base, to large, vehicle sized grills made of brick, weighing nearly a ton. |
