Customer Rating:   Summary: Don't waste your money Comment: I knew I wouldn't use this much so I chose to buy a cheaper model. The very first time I used it the unit overheated and the motor just quit. I tried turning it off for awhile to see if letting it cool down would remedy the problem. An hour later it wouldn't even turn on. I pitched it in the trash! I wish I hadn't wasted my money!!! Total disappointment!! Customer Rating: Summary: Serves its purpose Comment: I bought this item primarily for mixing powdered protein, juice, and fruit for a diet I was on. I wanted something quick and easy as well as something portable that I might be able to use at home and work. It has served me well for this purpose. I have also used it for mixing pancake and cornbread mixes with milk. You can also use it for "juicing" fruit and vegetable concoctions as long as you cut the fruit/vegs into smaller chunks. It's very easy cleaning and storing. Downsides: have to hold power button throughout blending process and per instructions, you shouldn't blend for more than one minute at a time. Overall, a nice product for the price. Customer Rating: Summary: Guacamole Galore Comment: I love this little kitchen helper. It will puree your lentil stews, makes great guacamole. I had used ones priced three times higher and yet this is my favorite for a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend it. This blender worked well while it worked and was easy to clean. Bad points: 1. You have to hold down the speed button for as long as you want to run the blender. This gave me cramps in my hand. 2. Loud 3. Has a moderate tendency to splash (I've had better, I've had worse). 4. Fell apart after 6 months; the switch broke and the handle began to split. Due to the breakage I suffered a light electric shock from touching the sauce that the appliance was immersed in. My conclusion? Spend twice as much for a good hand blender, which will last longer and save you money in the long run. Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Choosing Appliance -> Do I need a dishwasher? If you enjoy washing by hand, no! However modern machines use less water, detergent and power than ever before and wash hotter using really powerful cleaners giving a hygienic wash result.
